Try for the original Japanese 80s Macross TV show. It's packed with young animating talent of now-classic directors.
The movie Macross: Do You Remember Love is a classic.
Macross Plus was a sequel OVA series that has some nice jet fighter dogfighting sakuga.
Macross plus another vote here. Favorite all time. Also amazing sound track
