I'll still use it. The title is just a joke about being called out by a boykisser meme

I think I need some context, what is a boykisser meme?

Here, here!

Even with the explanation, I still don’t get it either. I have some questions:

  1. What is a boy kisser meme?
  2. What is good or bad about being called out in reference to one?
  3. Who was doing the calling out or being called? Was OP called out by Krita, Krita by OP, or some third party calling out one or the other? Or maybe a third party was called out by Krita?
  4. What does this image have to do with Krita or the other OSS projects in the background?

Feel free to assume that I am old and not hip to what kids are doing these days.

  1. A boykisser meme is a male furry rabbit(?) that kisses boys. It is usually paired with the caption "You like kissing boys don't you?" in a teasing tone, like this:

21930

  1. This is a good thing. However, the joke relies on the sarcastic nature of "being caught" liking boys. In an attempt to clear his name, OP claims it's time to uninstall Krita.

  2. The "calling out" is done by the boykisser. Instead of liking boys, the meme is modified to say open-source software. Thus, the boykisser "criticises" the reader, and by extension, OP, of liking FOSS software.

  3. The boykisser himself doesn't usually look like this (see the first image attached). He was modified in order to resemble Krita's mascot, Kiki. Attached below is Kiki's reference sheet, from the official KDE site for the mascot.

21900

The eyes, the makeup around them, and the ears are pulled from Kiki's design and put onto the boykisser.

If you have any lingering questions, or I misunderstood the joke, please don't hesitate to tell me.
