I'm beginning to think that the whole reason lemmy.world exists is to remind us why we left reddit
i'm still convinced that .world was either a psyop or became a captured instance to ensure that as few defecting redditors join any of the pro-leftist instances as possible.
it's the only thing that explains why it was so heavily promoted on so many subreddits instead of lemmy.ml when it had nothing to offer at the beginning of the reddit protests and why there was a coordinated effort to defederat the leftist core instances throughout the lemmyverse.
now piefed is getting that same treatment from reddit and they literally used the same pics as before, but edited out .world in favor of piefed
yeah the direct reddit tie in with world and piefed definitely feels sketch af
i used to wonder if this made me a conspiracy theorist; but the whole tiktok situation combined w watching the cartel humiliate sheinbaum on social media as they retaliate for the us empire's directed assassination of el mencho has convinced me that they're not above using all social media platforms to maintain their grip on the narrative.
and they're really good at it too; they must have learned a lot from the tiktok/4chan/reddit man-o-spheres.

There was a concerted effort by some to recruit of reddit to the fediverse. They have an "anti-tankie" bias and so directed users to instances accordingly. They're currently recruiting off reddit to piefed as well.
It wasn't a psyop as much as people that liked lemmy and wanted it to grow taking action and the government propaganda brainworms steering it in a more pro-US direction.
the propaganda brainworms turned into another mini-reddit. lol

i avoided using blocklists on any social media platform that i been using since 1996 and piefed is the first time i used it.
Only surprised don't have pj blocked. Had to do that and the lw flat earth mod
never heard of that instance nor that community and i'm afraid to go look for both given this context. lol

Then why are you saying it's hypocritical for a Lemmy.ml user to say that Lemmy.world reminds us of Reddit? It's pretty normal that us communists would leave Reddit for Lemmy.
