Memorial to "rif is fun for Reddit" Android app, aka "reddit is fun", shut down after June 30, 2023
It's very hard on a device you actually use. They cross reference cookies from multiple ad networks and affiliates, they fingerprint your unique interests, your devices, it's actually fairly impressive. I've gone to some lengths and still gotten new accounts suspended after weeks or months. The people who run bots are using clean VMs to do it, everything totally fresh and unconnected.
But a VM would still share the same IP.
NAT networks that use shared global IP like a VPN but in a more local ways. Thus saying, they cannot simply ban 1 IP address of a trusted internet provider and cut of like a thousand people just to ban 1 account since this will limit other potential clients and lover their profits. Reddit's greed is also its weakness.
