hello fellow Whovians!
we have a LONG wait until the Christmas special. XD thankfully there is no shortage of EXCELLENT and novel DW stories available to us courtesy of Big Finish!
i've decided to start the adventures of the Fugitive Doctor! it comes in two sets, three episodes each. episode length is like modern Who.
Jo Martin as The Doctor remains a presence! larger than life and with great range. a real joy to spend time with.
And this is definitely The Fugitive, and NOT The Agent! She is on the run from Division and not doing jobs for them.
As we know from the show, her memory is regularly wiped. This brings us in to a Doctor who doesn't really know herself outside of the special ops work she does for Division. Yet underneath the rough and hurting exterior still beats the two hearts of the Time Lord we know and love, and that comes out when she lets herself let go and follow her hearts instead of her head.
This first adventure, 'Fast Times', sets us off running and has many action sequences and surprises! Jo Martin kept me riveted as the complexities of her Doctor slowly unfolded for me throughout the action of the story, and thankfully not through exposition.
When designing this series the creators did consult with Chibnall, but it became clear that the "truth" of the Fugitive was as up in the air for him as much as us. This provides the creative team a lot of freedom to explore a new era and approach to The Doctor.
Lots of fun and a promising start for this series!
This is a great idea! I'm still pondering picking up the Humble Bundle of audios, but sadly this doesn't seem to be one of them.
You know, as aggravating as it was that Chibnall seemed pretty uninterested in his own setups, it's nice that someone is playing with the toys he put on the shelf.
thanks! i thought it'd be a fun thing to share as we pass the time.
i'd say if those stories interest you, pick it up! it can even just be a way to dip a toe in and try it out without it being so expensive, which BF can be. i picked it up to try out those Classic Doctors / New Monsters stories!
as for Chibnall era, there's a new 13th Doctor range! it's really fun to hear Jodie again and experience the character in a new creative light.
