If there's one silver lining in this sordid Epstein affair, it's that it reminds everybody that Bill Gates isn't a nice old billionaire philanthropist.
If you're old enough, you remember him as a hateful rabid psychopathic CEO. He's still that man: the philanthropy is just a way for him to dodge taxes. He hasn't become better with age.
Bill Gate's relationship with Epstein rekindles the nausea this man elicits in everybody who knows what sort of man he truly is.
And philanthropy as a whole is purely a method of white-washing one's reputation. If the rich gave a shit they would simply pay their taxes.
If I was rich I'd rather donate to tax-deductible charities so none of it goes to bombs.
They don't though, they "donate" to their OWN charity which is then controlled by their children... Virtually none of that vast wealth actually goes to helping people.
It is simply a tax evasion technique for them.
Side note: this is also why many professional athletes have "charities", they learned from the billionaires.
Well, that's why I'm not rich.
His philanthropy is also problematic for more reasons than tax dodging:

He used it to improve his legacy.
Hey this scandal is a nice way to end it.
lumping in every person who’s done anything wrong into the same evil billionaire bucket muddies the waters and lessens the burden on the worse ones. as far as i know, Bill slept with some prostitutes, cheated on his wife and asked for some drugs. this is nowhere near the pedophilia, rape, murder and worse that the worst offenders did.
you can say philanthropy is just a tax strategy but this guy is deeply involved in the philanthropy and knowledgeable about it for a while now, and attempts to use it for the best. again, compare with someone like Les Wexner or Staley, this guy is worlds apart.
like we can be clear about what each individual person did. i don’t think Bill has actually done anything reprehensible.
No it doesn't. Nobody who has good in them becomes a billionaire. Only psychopaths and ruthless people who are willing to make the lives of a whole lot of other human beings worse for their own benefit become billionaires.
There are good rich people to be sure. But the richer they are, the less likely they are to be good.
why don’t you tell me what your actual problem is with Paul McCartney, Michael Jordan, Taylor Swift or Bill Gates? they’re all very rich. not billionaires as a concept, what makes these specific people so much more evil than an average person?
even if we say MOST people who became billionaires are bad, it doesn’t mean all of them are. and even if Bill Gates is a psychopath, he hasn’t raped any children that i’m aware of.
you guys seem to have a legitimate point that a system that lets billionaires exist is dangerous. but when you say shit like this - everyone outside the most extreme leftist circles is going to conclude that you’re insane and it makes changing things that much harder
So don't compare some people but compare others ... "epsteinhater" 🤔
Bill is this you
bro a pedo rapist is not the same as a guy sleeping with an escort. it should be fucking obvious. throwing bullshit around only weakens our credibility and republicans are already using that to discredit this whole thing as a “witch hunt”.
