It's also wild to me that I've been told multiple times by experienced outdoorsmen that the most dangerous animal you can encounter in the woods is another human, but that's entirely forgotten as soon as the culture war revs up.

but yeah, animals mostly just want to be left alone. usually it is pretty easy to do that when you come across one

Yeah, a bear lives in the fucking woods. That's his house, and presumably if you're not fucking with the bear, the bear most likely won't fuck with you.

But another person? With unclear intentions for being in the woods? Not everyone is out to get you, but it's a higher risk than a damn bear. Especially if you're a woman, by yourself
