And generally the exceptions boil down to "you being late is affecting a fellow worker".

Office jobs, which is most likely what these Gen z are referring to, is very different from rotating shift work

Oh, absolutely. That's why I referred to it as being an exception to the rule.

Doesn't even need to be rotating shifts. I kind of work in construction (county archaeology) and if I am not there on time my boss has to wait for me to drive us to the site which in turn costs the construction company because they can only start working when we are finished
