He’s leaving because NY is planning to arrest him for additional crimes that are unpardonable.
I wish they'd fucking hurry up and grow a spine and do it already.
Politicians are strongly motivated to keep other politicians out of jail. It's their clique and you're not in it.
I'm well aware. I'm a devout anarchist with a strong sense of justice, but I can still wishcast that our feckless leaders will actually do something while knowing that is never going to happen.
I'm not sure how much impact Mamdani would have as mayor on this, but it does seem that he would be the type to do what he could to get Santos arrested, and Santos seeing the writing on the wall has decided to GTFO before that happens.
