I'm thinking that even if they want to knock the building down, they could at least part it out. Look at those windows in the wreckage pile! I'm sure there are dozens of small museums around the country who would love to have an authentic White House window to show bored fourth graders on field trips.
Or, gild them and hand them out as party favours to your donors, as would more befit the architect.
there are parts of the Berlin wall installed all over Germany for the sake of remembering how it was teared down
When the Wall was torn down, Leonard Bernstein conducted and recorded a performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony as a dedication to the reunification of Germany.
When it was released, the record company sent a small tchotchtkie to the classical music buyers at all the record stores/chains - a wooden stand with a piece of the Berlin Wall glued to it. I've seen a lot of little gifts for buyers to entice them into ordering an album, but I've never seen buyers more excited than they were for this one.
