Do you ever feel like all you do is work all day and there’s nothing else going on in your life

Mm hmm. Especially in winter. I’m working, getting in some exercise, hibernating and that’s about it.

I get the sense that seasonal depression is especially bad this year and wonder if this is a big factor causing it

Yep, feeling this now. I was listening to a podcast and they were talking about the whole 8-8-8, 8 hours sleep, 8 hours work, 8 hours play. But that was under the assumption that someone was at home. So really it's like 8 hours of work, 5 hours of sleep, 2 hours of cooking, 2 hours of cleaning, 3 hours of travel, 3 hours of miscellaneous stuff and then 1 hour of play.

I reckon you could cut down on that 4 hours a day cooking and cleaning!

The 8 hour day movement was actually about giving workers the time to do those miscellaneous things, to account for travel time to work. Before the unions got involved, you'd be working 14 hour shifts,,,and still have all the other stuff, https://ergo.slv.vic.gov.au/explore-history/fight-rights/workers-rights/origins-8-hour-day

I feel ya, that 1 hour of play is not sufficient, then sleep gets impacted causing you to be less productive at work which causes you to work longer hours which reduces play time even more… it’s a vicious cycle

I told my partner that I understood why they just want to play games they play after work. Because man, I just want to sit down and play some Fallout 4.

I'm a shitty shift worker, so if I'm not at work I'm usually asleep (that's not even an exaggeration). It really really sucks, although I recently decided it's time to suck up the financial blow and look for other work.

Yep. A few hours of family or alone time. Maybe 2 after doing all the housework, walking the dogs or trying to get some exercise.
