MODERATORS
If all we do is point to hypocrisy we will continue to lose. We need real material action. If the Democrats do not force a shutdown it will be another example of "we follow the rules and compromise" being the only action they take.
They are "going high and losing" while the Republicans and their messengers just keep going low and winning.
The only thing the "opposition" party believes in is process. They will do nothing as fascist destroy our government all the while making sure you know they are following the process. That they played by the rules as the other party wiped their ass with them.
That's all these articles of hypocrisy serve to do. They are here to make you believe that Fascism will be stopped by pointing to it. That they somehow will crumble for being hypocrits. This isn't 2016. It's 2025 and the fascist have their power and will never give it up through the process.
We need a strong opposition party that actually has goals. The Democrats only goal is to follow process and maintain their donations. These old useless fucks need to be removed.
American's need to get off their ass and take control of their contry back from the worst Americans to ever live. Unfortunately most Americans are already so brow beaten they'll never step more than a few steps outside of their comfort zone.
Many of us are too depressed, too exhausted, and too scared to fight the military and get arrested.
It's going to take years before people get that desperate that they are willing to die for their countries freedom, and even then it's not very many.
If you are conscious enough to know that. Then you're the person we need coming out TODAY. Especially if you're white and a US citizen.
Nothing helps depression like a day of solidarity with others. I promise you that.
ICE is using fear to keep you away. Don't let their propaganda keep you away. You already know what you'll have to do one day. So do it now when it's easier to do it. Every additional person makes a difference.
Bring a mask. Maybe some eye protection. We'll have first aid, water, and vegan protein bars to share. We love and welcome anyone that hates fascist.
It's either politically conscious liberals that say "no one does anything" (while they don't do anything) or apolitical people too busy worrying about paying for food and rent to do anything else.
There are some of us that have financial freedom and are in the streets every week. But, that's not the norm. The average person with me is someone that is directly being targeted and has no choice. (Bless the few white boomers that show up every day though).
But, honestly, it's depressing how little people show up to even the weekend protests/organizing.
I'll keep doing it. But I really put the inaction on the liberals that "point" at problems and then go enjoy their life and say "no one cares". Waiting for all the other liberals to care first.
People should be able to enjoy their weekends again when everyone can without worry of being arrested by ICE.
What do you think of younger Democrats with bolder views - AOC and Zohran Mamdani?
AOC has had her use. I've been extremely disappointed in her capture by the Democratic party leadership. She has "played ball" with them in many situations (especially on Israel) and has still been completely shunned by them. She has achieved nothing for her compromise and really shines only when she stands strong on an issue.
Mamdani is great but is already showing some signs of the same issues AOC has. I know he's exhausted by being attacked from liberals about his strong stance on Palestinian liberation. But that's a reason WHY he's liked.
I don't see politician's as saviors. I see them as tools for building class consciousness and working class solidarity. AOC has outlived most of that usefulness as a tool. I will praise her when she can be used but I'll critize her when she caves in.
Same will go for Mamdani. He is doing a lot for working class interest now so I praise that. At least in messaging. But he isn't in office yet and will need to actually fight for what he stands for.
But I'd never place a movement on a single politician. It's the mistake progressives did with Bernie. I focus on building working class solidarity and only see the political process and elections as a small part of that process that will never work without the true ground work outside of the political system.
I see, thanks for the reply. I'm British so I probably don't know as much about American politics as Americans do. I think it would be cool if Zohran wins in NYC though. I guess it would show that elections can be won these days on the grounds of making life more affordable for ordinary people.
