They don’t work nearly as well as you think. It’s like saying posting a cop on a street corner stops people from doing rolling stops at the stop sign. Might there, but it just masks the problem.

Here's an article talking about cameras in Hamilton and Niagara that get moved around town every once in a while. They say the cameras make a huge difference.

I don't know why anything that increases safety AND generates revenue is debated in politics.

My major complaint is actually that it’s a much higher burden on the poor. If the fee was based on net worth, or yearly income, I’d be much more into it.

Though I will say the random placement definitely seems like a better choice than stationary.

Maybe we put speed cameras in places where traffic calming is needed and not just randomly distributed around town? Your comment insinuates that its pointless unless all roads have cameras, which is a bit silly.
