Roughly six pages from more than 8,500 documents provided by Epstein’s estate to Democratic members on the House Oversight Committee include meeting schedules appearing to show appointments with Bannon and venture capitalist Peter Thiel during Donald Trump’s first term in office.

The documents also mention Musk joining a potential trip to Epstein’s island in 2014.

Prince Andrew also is listed in the documents as a passenger on Epstein’s aircraft, with financial disclosures provided to the committee suggesting evidence of payments from Epstein to an individual listed as “Andrew.”

His appointment with Bannon in 2019 was just months before Epstein was federally charged with trafficking and sexually abusing dozens of minors. Epstein pleaded not guilty and was found dead in a jail cell in New York in August 2019.

also mentions a tentative breakfast with Bill Gates.

Oh look, more evidence that bill gates probably raped children.

In my experience people online are really reluctant to believe this of gates, despite the constant stream of evidence from epstein files, the workplace culture and business practices that reflect a psychopath in charge and the need for one of the most expensive PR excersizes in history since ashoka the terrible started promoting buddhism.

The thing with Bill Gates is, he was an absolute piece of shit while running Microsoft. Basically killing all the competitors and trying to kill open source projects.

The whole he's a good person look at what he is doing with his money, is just flawed. He shouldn't have that money in the first place. He definitely screwed over other people and companies to get that kind of money. If you think I don't care about companies, well the extra costs will just go to the consumer, so us.

Other companies are literally the requirement for breaking monopolies. Screwing them will kill off the smallest ones – that is, the ones most likely to not yet be exploitative behemoths – until only the biggest bullies remain.

Yeah people still run forward to lick his boots when he gets criticised so I figure it worked quite well.

Any links to that PR exercise? I love reading about those things. People should be aware that rich people DO have PR companies managing their names. A famous case is when musk bought into the PR about himself and fired the PR team because why have one when you're that fantastic, right?

I was referring to his foundation as a PR excersize.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

Yeah the Bill & Melinda Foundation. "I gave away billions"! To yourself, to avoid taxes. Smart and evil.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 days ago

That foundation has done a lot of wonderful things, I've known people that have worked there. I think the credit goes to Melinda, not Bill.

They have done a lot of horrible things like buying up and locking IP for the medical research too. There is a reason research people stay away from Bill and Melinda and their strings attached.

But you just have to come to their rescue. Interesting. Are you American?

You got a weird love for your billionaires and bosses IMO.

Love from France.

Absolutely off topic: Ashoka the terrible? I only know the Mauryan emperor who famously converted after having caused such bloodshed and destruction that he then became a pacifist. Considering other emperors, he sounds like a pretty based guy after his redemption. Am I missing something?

[-] Hegar@fedia.io 7 points 1 week ago

That's probably just a lie, the sudden change of personality part. Or there's an academic theory that his conversion and pacificism were just PR.

In the province where his last brutal massacring happened, which supposedly precipitated his change of heart, the version of the steles that he commissioned leaves out the change of heart part and just details what a brutal massacre he committed.

So if he's still selling himself just as a brutal conqueror in the province where that image is beneficial for suppressing revolt, how sincere was his conversion?

Modern understandings of the brain also suggest that someone who took his meals in the custom built torture dungeon he called "ashoka's hell", is probably neurologically incapable of empathy. The sudden appearance of empathy doesn't really fit with how psychopathy works.

It's not universally accepted, but I find it convincing. The lies of the powerful are often written in stone.
