Don't forget Bosch's standards would have been lower - he died three years before chocolate arrived in Europe, half a century before the invention of gelato, and 473 years before the release of unrelated Belgian techno anthem "Pump Up the Jam".
Strawberries were symbolic of purity, so there is a lot of allusion happening in this painting which is actually a three panel piece.
As for what that allusion is, there's actually debate on that. Some people think the middle panel was meant to represent a fall to earthy decadence. People are devouring the strawberries, leading to ruin and Hell in the final panel. The alternate interpretation is the center shows an aspirational paradise, a heaven on earth located between Christ and Hell and in contrast to Hell.
I personally vibe with the first interpretation.
These strawberries are the ones used to make the jam that Technotronic wants us to pump up.
Ah, yes, the Hurdy Gurdy, the most evil of instruments.
Dude's mind would have been blown by an avacado.
You think the taste of a clean penis would have revolutionized an artist? Or do you mean its wonky look or something?
I was thinking more simply, cause it's a fruit but it's savory.
A clean penis, huh? Can't say I know what that tastes like but at least it's not a dirty one.
Clean Penis is this Labor Day's hottest club. It's got everything. Eye bleach, protest signs, Dan Cortese...
I can tell that screenshot is from SNL but I don't get the reference.
this is a bill hader character Stefan (sp?) who regularly showed up on weekend update to talk about clubs etc, night life basically. his script always had surprise changes by john mulaney so he'd usually break, cracking up in the middle of the segment because he never knew what would be on the final cards.
Great description!
It does? (https://www.pedestrian.tv/online/avocado-clean-dick-twitter-investigation/) And they could have categorized it as a veggie, like they did with tomatoes…
