For context, I saw a Lemmy post about Gamer Nexus' video about their video been taken-down by Bloomberg and seeing the comment of "just use PeerTube then." Which has got me thinking of the sort of content that YouTube channel makes definitely has high production value which unsure if donation would cover the cost but I know they have sponsor. Not sure how they feel about PeerTube but I know Nick (from The Linux Experiment) get sponsors so surely some them are alright with PeerTube then as his is more Linux based that embrace the Open Source ecosystem?
Generally just asking just more me being curious if that can be doable as I love PeerTube but I don't want to have blind optimism where I get pissed off at a content creator for not being on PeerTube and for the audience not wanting to use PeerTube despite hating YouTube so much.
Some instances have profit sharing with their creators. Its a novel way, but probably the best bet is to use something like Patreon or the "Support" button on the peertube channel themselves in order to support the creator.
Also there is nothing stopping instances adding ads to their main site...if they wanted to. Most do not for obvious reasons.
