For the leaders, it is utopia. The suffering is hidden from view to let them enjoy things, kind of like slave labor and factory farming.
Was recently in Palo Alto and there is not a single pothole, street trash, or homeless person in the entire city. The rich live in a bubble, they have no idea what the everyman deals with.
