Windows 11 has given me no issues whatsoever. I'm not apologizing for having a great experience.

Have fun with your surveillance capitalism

Instead of being condescending, you might help people solve the problems that keep them from switching. Or just stay quiet. Whatever you prefer. This elitist attitude is one of the reasons why some people won't even try Linux because they fear they will be ridiculed as soon as they need to ask for help.

[-] RonnieB@lemmy.world 51 points 3 days ago

The op is calling Linux users worst than Mormons but "enjoy your spyware" is elitist? This isn't someone asking for help, it's a shitpost.

[-] dfyx@lemmy.helios42.de 14 points 3 days ago

Have you seen how some Linux users treat people who don't use exactly what they think is the hottest shit? Even towards people who use as much FOSS as they can but still need some proprietary stuff for certain use cases because FOSS alternatives are not quite there yet. It's annoying as hell and comes up in every single discussion that vaguely fits the topic. I would say the comparison to Mormons is not that far off.

This feels like a fantasy you made up in your head. It's not like you even need to ask anyone for help anyway. All the documentation is out there for almost anything you wanna do on Linux. There is nothing elite about it. Unless you use arch btw.

[-] SleepyPie@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

I am friendly and will help you switch to Linux 🙂

[-] 474D@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

There is nothing "elite" about Linux anymore, it's an extremely accessible option and easier than windows in several ways. It's not the 90s. I recently had to install windows on a separate SSD and I was shocked to find I had to manually find and install nearly every single driver. Like wtf, bazzite and Linux Mint does that shit for you

Xfinity uses WiFi signal as a motion sensor in their security package. You can’t escape the surveillance.

Who said I use it?

That’s a very shortsighted response.

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

if you don't use it why are you telling me you can't escape it, and its no use getting rid of spyware?

[-] Scrizzle@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

If they can do that, what else do you think they can do and aren’t telling you? You are such a skeptic and yet you think they are just going to tell you everything they do?

A fools stance. You least of all cannot escape this,

[-] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Then I guess we better not try and fight it then, right? If we can't escape it, why not just roll over and present ourselves?

A fools stance.

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

you are inventing things you don't know exist to justify your own inaction about it. if you don't want to use linux you can just say so.

[-] Scrizzle@lemmy.zip 1 points 14 hours ago

For the poorly informed

I don’t care about Linux. I don’t care about Windows. I’m not one of the internet idiots who always thinks there is a side to be chosen. I do, however, “google before tweet”.

For the poorly informed

yeah but like, do you use it? we already established this is not relevant for anyone here, haven't we.

if you don't care why are you so keen on arguing against it?

[-] MotoAsh@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago

Yea you can. By not using their enshittified shit.

Yep cuz if it wasnt for the computer I use mainly to play video games there would be no more surveillance capitalism left in my life.

[-] moseschrute@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I went down the privacy rabbit hole, and I think it was bad for my mental health. I decided I don’t care, and what I really want is for technology to just not influence my decisions (e.g. ads influencing my purchasing decisions). Beyond that, I don’t care.

I mean I do care, but it’s overwhelming and ultimately the toll it takes on me isn’t worth it.

Graphene OS on your phone? Or a dumb phone?

No internet connected TV device?

Modern cars also have an embedded sim card that's reporting back data.

Any other "smart devices" in the house?

It's possible, but difficult to avoid surveillance capitalism..... Teach me how.

Shit, I thought I found a messiah who would teach me the ways.

[-] HiddenLychee@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago
