I did my first workout in a long time yesterday evening... I've been trying to get myself back to the gym, but it's hard, I'm sure someone out there understands.

Last year at some point I had bought some 12lb dumbells to try and get myself to at least do something simple at home, and I never even touched them. At like 10pm last night, I suddenly got the urge to start working out. I dusted off the dumbells and did some general moves I'd been looking at for a while as a general starting point. I didn't really break a sweat, but this morning I can feel a little twinge of soreness, which is both good and bad... Good because it means I actually did something, and bad because the last time I worked out several years ago, 12lbs was nothing... I'm hoping that chasing the thrill of improvement again will keep me going. Start small, and then work my way back up to actually leaving the house and going to the gym, which I have been paying for and not using for ~2 years lol

It was somewhat spurred on by me impulsively buying a bathroom scale last week as part of a whole general self-care hygiene kick I've been on... I'm not concerned about my weight, and I KNOW I have lost weight lately due to diet changes alone, but I haven't stepped on a scale outside the doctor's office in ~10 years, and I saw a scale on clearance for $5, so what the hey, I don't even know how much I weigh right now, that's worth at least $5. I've cut off all my manky long hair, started flossing my teeth daily (which I've actually kept up with for the last couple weeks somehow), and now know how much I weigh (which is 15lb less than I thought)... I looked in the mirror recently and for the first time (I think ever) noticed that I actually find myself attractive... Progress progress.
