AllTrails has a new generative AI feature that can be asked to 'shorten my route' or 'make this more scenic.'

I've used AllTrails for years but this AI feature seems like a disaster waiting to happen - always carry a paper map and compass as backup and know how to use them, because even the best apps fail when your battery dies or you loose signal in the backcountry.
