Many people use words not because of their commonly accepted meaning, but because of how it makes them feel. "Net zero" sounds fancy and zero is what they want.

I would like Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh and his ilk to leave, in order to make room for more hard-working immigrants. Net-zero.

They definitely mean "net zero" as in "get rid of them all" and not "input=output"...

Also, I’m an American who left, so net zero also means I freed up a spot.

And what about Americans who choose to leave? Replaced 1:1 with immigration?

They have absolutely no idea what they mean with "net zero"
