It looks like the tram in Sydney, which also gets its power from a third rail which is only powered segment by segment when the tram is above it. (I think that’s a French system, more expensive than overhead catenary, but allows wireless trams on open roads.)

The Barcelona Tram networks are hybrid. There are sections with overhead wires and sections with a middle third rail.

They're also working on connecting the two networks. The historic tramvia blau is not operating since 2017/2018?.
