Europe community on dbzer0. Intended to be a place to discuss European news, politics, or just general topics from a European perspective. Since this is on dbzer0 expect the community to lean more leftist-anarchist but a wide range of views are accepted here (within reason).

I don't agree with your dismissive assessment here, considering the fact a group of Zionist users did end up coming to !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com to spout apologia and genocide denial (the modlog shows this clearly), and also made their own thread in ich_iel to whine and complain there. There is absolutely a real problem with Feddit.org's communities both in their moderation and their tolerated userbase and to pretend there isn't is extremely disingenuous.
I don't know which instance you are talking about but if their moderation chose to defederate feddit.org in the midst of this controversy that is their decision, a bit extreme. But I also don't exactly blame them for wanting to end association with Feddit.org after the recent events.
I wonder which one is that group of Zionist users, will have to follow the link to the community you mentioned.
Btw, the small community that defederated feddit.org on this matter is listed in the announcement: https://feddit.org/post/12529640
I am not disingenuous toward the issue, but I might be biased since it's my understanding that Internet always has too many warriors-from-the-sofa. The real issue is with the german law, which might be too restrictive, and that's why I believe your initiative here is welcome.
For the record, I live in Germany, attended demostrations or universities camps in support of Palestine and even there, organizers ask you not to use the phrase "from the river..". That's how f**-up it is. I have seen discussions among the left, some wouldn't show any support for Palestine mostly out of fear (and, sure, ignorance, which in a way would makes you an accomplice to genocide).
I just looked at that post and wow... that is disgusting... Feddit should be ashamed of themselves. That segment at the end reeks of childish and immature behavior complaining about "tattle-tales" because they got defederated after someone spoke out against them. That on its own reinforces my idea that this community was both a good idea and is needed to replace europe on feddit.org or any other German or DACH instance.
Yes you are certainly right that the problems mostly stem from German Law itself being very pro-zionist and trying to selectively squash anti-Zionist sentiment (including their acceptance of the IHRA definition of antisemitism which is in and of itself Zionist apologia). German law is way too restrictive, and I would argue that this hinders a Lemmy instance's ability to function properly and not just be functionally a propaganda mill due to German compelled speech laws.
Speaking on that group you asked about, they're in the modlog of yepowertrippinbastards but it includes a handful of Feddit.org users and a few users on other platforms who were spouting outright genocide denial, whataboutism, and sometimes even using homophobia to try and justify genocide or mock pro-Palestine activists (you know, exactly what right-wing dipshits do).
They are bunch of arrogant arseholes, that's for sure.
