Shit. Is it still allowed in sunscreen?
Are you eating the sunscreen?
No
Still not sure how that snarky response applies though. Last I checked, skin is porous and creams get absorbed by the skin. So I'd say it's still a valid concern.
It depends on the size of the particle and what the particle is made of, titanium dioxide is not capable of penetrating your skin because it’s a solid and the solid particles are too large for direct absorption, something touching your skin in cream form does not actually mean it will definitely penetrate through your skin. Titanium is by its self considered a body safe metal, and dioxide means it contains two oxygen atoms and one atom of the main ingredient, titanium is a particularly large atom. This doesn’t mean that titanium dioxide should be being applied directly to the mucus membranes in your body, like in your intestines, but skin is significantly less permeable. Titanium dioxide in sunscreen is considered safe, it is not banned from use in the EU in sunscreens, it’s also considered environmentally safe, which is untrue of nonmineral sunscreens
Don’t eat titanium dioxide but that doesn’t mean it’s not good for other things.
Ooooo boy, you don't know what you're missing! Its like glue, but less stigma for not being a crafting supply.
