Hi all! I'm going to be married later this year, and everyone is asking me to get a registry together... but I don't really "need" anything. I've been living in an apartment and so I have most everything I need, and I reject the notion that just because I'll be married, that people "need" to get me something. For people that feel like they should gift me something, I'd love to just ask for cash so that I can save for when I truly need something, but I'm sure that there are those who will tell me that they don't want to do that. Do you guys have any suggestions? Thanks!

Ask them to "buy" you a few hectares of rainforest somewhere so that you can protect it from deforestation (and then either live there yourself or send someone there to protect it from deforestation). This way, people still get to buy something for you rather than donate to a non-profit.
