AI art's been dying for 2 years
(www.youtube.com)
"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
Plenty of indie game devs just commission an artist for this. Often with small upfront payments and a deal for a cut of revenue/profits. This just isn't the problem I think you think it is. I also strongly doubt there's been any major indie games that have used AI art, because it would have been news.
I do definitely agree though that there are a lot of things people say are AI that aren't. I did this and was massively wrong once and I've become a lot more cautious about jumping to that conclusion now, lest a real artist be piled on.
Can you give some examples?
I dont belive its a real issue, infinite free assets, they use ai so they can use it as an excuse for when no one buys their mediocre game
Lmao yall loge sensationalizing tech that isn't anywhere near as good as you claim it is, "we are so close to ..." and its 50 years out from actually being good at best
Look, it only matters if someone wants to watch it, and you cant even get me to watch it lmao sad
