Rules:

Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Problem is, all it does is push them in the wrong direction. My father went from "I don't care about any of this shit" to "what the fuck do you mean I can't go on my quarterly golf trip??" and on to "Bill Gates murders Indian children with vaccines and also have you heard about RFK Jr?"

I'm still friends with a lot of my college classmates. Most are pretty reasonable to progressive. But one has a harridan of a wife who is full bore Trumpster and bullies him politically. I don't know if she still is but she was last year. Anyway, when we were discussing our concerns with the shit the Trumpistas are pulling, he said to our group (who are all upper middle class professionals with money) "Don't worry, what ever happens, we'll be OK." And I replied, "That's the problem. Others most assuredly will not be ok.".
If you find entertainment when people are dying, then something in you is defective.
Who is dying where? Why would that be entertaining?

But what if it's evil people or people who willingly and purposefully do evil who are dying? Can't I be entertained by that?
