The is this scene in the wire where a criminal informant (who is a drug addict) acts as if he sells hats to a group of higher up drug dealers a way to tell the cops about their identity. During this interaction he only puts the red hat on the important people while they are being photographed from afar so he can later tell the cops about their names and position. Smart Trump doesn't need a hostile informant to help the cops.
