I don't want to be subject to the output of generative AI and yet and I continuously am because AI bros oppose things that would enable my preferences (e.g. requiring AI output to be watermarked or tagged) and shove it in places I visit regularly. So fuck them and their ocean boiling algorithms that will never make art worth seeing, prose worth reading, or music worth hearing.

Some of my students use AI. They regularly submit assignments with incorrect information because even though they got the ai to do the research for them they don't know which part to pull. In a niche science subject, ai doesn't always have the answers. Especially when I'm using information that hasn't been published online or that has been paywalled in journals.

It's very depressing to see them use ai for something that should be simple reasoning as well, like "compare and contrast coal power to solar power, you may use your notes".
