Hasan was paid by ubisoft to play the new Assassin's creed on stream (which he was very clear that it is a paid promotion) grummz got mad and called him a "terrorist supporter" and claimed ubisoft supports terrorism (because Hasan is middle eastern and pro-palestine). Then Elon responded to grummz with this.

[-] vxx@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago

Hasan openly glazes Hamas and Houthis. He calls them freedom fighters and showing their propaganda videos while he calls them music Videos.

I'm not into hating vallhalla for stupid reasons, but it's a fact to call Hasan a terrorist supporter.

[-] hperrin@lemmy.ca 58 points 4 months ago

One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.

The founding fathers were terrorists, according to the definition the US government uses. They were fighting an occupying force using violence. We now call them heroes and patriots. It’s a matter of perspective.

Did they kidnap ship workers, woman and children to torture, rape and kill them? Did they parade naked woman through the street? Was their Slogan "death to america"?

If you support that youve sold your soul and got nothing in return.

[-] Glytch@lemmy.world 53 points 4 months ago

Did they kidnap ship workers

Likely yes

woman and children to torture, rape and kill them

Most of the founding fathers were slave owners so that's a yes to that as well

Did they parade naked woman through the street?

Americans called it a slave auction

Was their Slogan "death to america"?

Of course not. They were America so why would they say "death to us"? It was more like "death to England and the tyrant King George".

Life isn't black and white.

The whole encyclopedia of whataboutism in one comment. Respect

[-] green@feddit.nl 44 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

How is this "whataboutism"? They gave instances for every one of your hypotheticals.

I do think that Hamas and Houthis are generally vile human-beings and that the West should not be cheering for the Shia muslim faction. But it is also true that they represent freedom fighters to some - especially those in Palestine currently being murdered (genocide) so Israel can have more living space

[-] Glytch@lemmy.world 29 points 4 months ago

You asked, I answered. Simple as.

[-] samus12345@lemm.ee 18 points 4 months ago

That's not how whataboutism works.

[-] prole 9 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Yeah, that's not what whataboutism is. The person was asked several questions, and they answered them. They even quoted each individual question before answering it.

[-] malle_yeno@pawb.social 8 points 4 months ago

Don't ask the questions if you don't want them answered lmao

[-] barnacul@lemmy.world 22 points 4 months ago

Was the slogan of the founding fathers of America "death to america"? Super hard hitting question.

Also there was more than enough rape, murder, and genocide taking place on the part of the American revolutionaries, and it was being actively encouraged by the founding fathers.

I'm sorry but if you can't even remotely see from where Hasan (or the other commenter) is coming from then you're literally no better than what you blame him to be. Israel has been terrorizing Palestinians probably longer than you've been alive and America has been supporting Israel since the beginning. Are you really surprised when the Palestinians, who have been terrorized their entire life, radicalize into Hamas and start shouting "death to America"?

[-] vxx@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

How convenient that you ignore the rapes and murders and just argue about their slogan.

[-] GoodEye8@lemm.ee 15 points 4 months ago

I don't have to ignore it. Isreal gets it's own wiki page of rape and torture . You'll be hard pressed to find anything Hamas has done that Isreal hasn't done 10 times worse.

[-] vxx@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

So that's your bar to justify rape and murder of innocent people, that others have done it.

You are evil

[-] GoodEye8@lemm.ee 13 points 4 months ago

I think it's a perfectly reasonable conclusion that when you're forced to grow up in an violent environment you can also end up being a violent person. I don't condone the actions of Hamas but in the context of the systemic violent oppression by Israel I can see see the "justification" of their actions.

As for being evil. I find it far more evil that you're deliberately trying to villanize victims of oppression. Palestinians couldn't end the conflict even if they wanted to, and I'm sure most of them want to. They can't end the conflict because they're the ones being oppressed, their actions of violence are a response to an oppressive regime. Israel could easily end this conflict in a peaceful manner, but they choose to continue the oppression.

did you learn anything about early america? they absolutely did all that except the "death to america" part was really "death to britons".

[-] b161 3 points 4 months ago

That torture, rape, and murder stuff sounds nearly as bad as what Americans and Israelis do daily.

[-] smol_beans@lemmy.world 28 points 4 months ago

If you support the us military or the idf you are a terrorist supporter too

[-] vxx@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Some more of that whataboutism please. Pretty low strategy to defend terrorist, rapists and murderers.

You always stoop that low to defend evil?

[-] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Pointing out common hypocrisy relevant to a topic isn't a whattaboutism, and claiming it is is a pretty transparent attempt to dismiss valid criticism you clearly lack a rebuttal to.

[-] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 months ago

Chances are they heard someone else use the term "whataboutism" and are just mindlessly parroting it without understanding what it actually is.

[-] vxx@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I havent been a hypocrite, have I? Your defense of terrorists is by your definition though.

[-] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I wasn't calling you a hypocrite, they were, I am not them, we are not the same person. I was just pointing out that 'whattaboutism' isn't a harry-potter-esque spell that when shouted properly makes valid criticism disappear.

[-] smol_beans@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

Both sides of the conflict are terrorists, between IDF and hamas, hamas are the lesser evil

[-] pyre@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

go back to dgg or h3 whichever hole you came out of

[-] vxx@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

It's not my cup of tea. Ive been following Hasan for a long time until it became too obvious he just wants to groom the viewers to terrorists.

[-] prole 5 points 4 months ago

I don't watch Hasan streams or anything, just sometimes catch the clips on yt afterwards, but I don't think I've ever seen him "glaze" Hamas.

Unless you're saying that Palestinian = Hamas. Is that what you are saying?

[-] Goldholz 4 points 4 months ago

Dont forget Grimes called Hasan hot. Musk be jellouse

[-] straightjorkin@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Apparently people started posting grimes on Hasan stream under elons tweets. I hope this pushes him to finally put all of us out of misery

[-] Goldholz 3 points 4 months ago

Every further post raises the chance of ketamin overdose!

[-] NostraDavid@programming.dev 4 points 4 months ago

(because Hasan is middle eastern and pro-palestine)

Must be his pro-Houthi stances. That also covers 'called him a “terrorist supporter”', since plenty of people see the Houthi as terrorists, with them overthrowing the government, even though they do claim to want a democracy (just not one governed by a corrupt president).

[-] prole 3 points 4 months ago

Hasan is Turkish, not Middle Eastern.

[-] straightjorkin@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

I am not about to start a geopolitical debate about where the middle east ends on a cirlcejerk community

[-] prole 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I didn't think it was a controversial take... In fact, I wasn't aware that it was a take at all.
