Genuine question, since the subreddit r/BuyFromEU is becoming larger and larger, actual migration feels due. Of course, we should use both platforms but right now using Reddit is more valuable and hence this platform is relatively small...

Any ideas?

Feddit.org is a German instance

Lemm.ee is Estonian.

Feddit.uk is from the UK.

Where do you expect

And this community to be all on one instance?

The technology instances are lemmy.zip or lemmy.dbzer0.com. Feddit.org is not a technology instance.

On a newly made instance just for those and other eu only communities

Like I’m on a just solarpunk instance

Wasn’t something also on lemmy world? Btw the “technology” thing was more a generalistic view of lemmy right now, sorry about that

I'm not sure an EU instance would make that much sense. EU or Europe is the alliance of the different countries. Countries have their own instances, which make sense. Why would we create a new instance for 3 or 4 EU communities? Spreading them across the existing countries instances seems like a better options, represent a bit real life with the EU institutions spread across Germany, France, Luxembourg and Belgium, and agencies in a lot of other countries as well

For SEO, marketing and branding reasons; being decentralized works better when also treating every instance as a full fledged community. Like a forum.

Also modding reason taking into account that some local instances may be hostile to more eu stuff

But here's the thing. People feel both European and from their countries, and having the Local feed with their language community is a nice way to discover local content in their language.

If anything, I've seen all the instances mods with instance communities very positive about having them there, those are usually very active communities.

having the Local feed with their language community

I'm not advocating for a single european instance for the whole fedi.

quite the opposite, i'm saying we need a european instance detached and then a lot of other locals instances to show up

Your points don't really invalidate the reasons I've said btw ^^'

Even if we'd go to the ''one euro sub in each euro instance'' there would still be some kind of coordination or landing page for the users that need exactly that and to share the pros of hosting them without ending up as usual with everything in some server or another

Ah, I see. In that case I would say that admins are hard to find, good admins even more, so until one shows up with the will to host an EU instance the current situation is good enough 😄

coordination or landing page

The EU communities already link in each other sidebars. We can maybe update that, but at the moment it should already be quite easy to find the others one if you're in one of them
