Not murder.

Denial of service.

[-] iii@mander.xyz 4 points 1 month ago

This is not legal advice, but i'm pretty sure it was simply murder.

Hooray for murder‽

[-] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

There is no rule of law when legal change stops being an option. Like when cops kill people for being brown, this is an act of terror. It's not ideal, but neither is capitalism that will never be peacefully stopped.

[-] Borger 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It was murder, yeah. And dude deserved it :) And so do all the crooks in government he and others like him line the pockets of.

Politicians have ensured that there is no peaceful, legal pathway to reform. That's why this happened.

Isn't there going to be a very big change to US government come january?

[-] Hathaway@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 month ago

Honestly, simply put, imo, no. The same rich and powerful are going to be in charge then. Even more so. I’d argue that the incoming government even guarantees that there’s no peaceful, legal, pathway to reform.

[-] inv3r510n@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

And what are they gonna do except continue to line their pockets while we all suffer.

Most armed country in the world. Continue to fuck around and you will find out. I can’t believe it took this long.

[-] Dasus@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Isn’t there going to be a very big change to US government come january?

Towards authoritarianism and dictatorship and away from democracy, yes.

[-] iii@mander.xyz 1 points 1 month ago

So change is possible if you gather sufficient votes?

[-] Dasus@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

In the US? No.

https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/perspectives-on-politics/article/testing-theories-of-american-politics-elites-interest-groups-and-average-citizens/62327F513959D0A304D4893B382B992B

Multivariate analysis indicates that economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on U.S. government policy, while average citizens and mass-based interest groups have little or no independent influence. The results provide substantial support for theories of Economic-Elite Domination and for theories of Biased Pluralism, but not for theories of Majoritarian Electoral Democracy or Majoritarian Pluralism.

[-] iii@mander.xyz 1 points 1 month ago

So nothing is changing in january?

[-] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 month ago

how can someone be so lacking in nuance? your world is so black and white lol.

my guy, you really need to think through things more, you're so simple it's mind boggling

[-] iii@mander.xyz 1 points 1 month ago

So black and white that I don't manage to appreciate murder, apparently :)

In my way, I see that as a good thing.

[-] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 month ago

you haven't responded to the myriad comments pointing out when we feel it's justified to kill someone, like defending yourself and others or at times of war.

So, what's your stance?

[-] iii@mander.xyz 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Even in self defense, to me, killing someone is last resort.

I get robbed at gunpoint: i give them my wallet.

I get attacked for reasons beyond my control (gaybashing for example): i'd try to run, as it's usually a group of people. I'd cry for help. I'd try to inflict enough pain to get away.

I'm at war. I don't want to be at war. I also noticed people larping here, like they want to be in a war. To me that's crazy.

I get wormholed back to baby hitler: Wouldn't kill him. Would encourage him often to persue arts.

More specific to this case: it's not self defense if you stalk a person then kill them, in my opinion.

That's incel turned rapist/murderer thinking, in my opinion.

[-] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 month ago

Yes but now you're discussing nuance whereas in your replies to everyone else you're making a blanket statement that murder is always wrong.

You can't reject other peoples' nuanced arguments with a blanket statement then retreat to making your own when confronted.

Your POV is valid, and I'm not telling you you're wrong to believe it, but you haven't been engaging with others in good faith.

[-] iii@mander.xyz 1 points 1 month ago

Stalking someone, to then kill them. That's incel turned rapist/murderer behaviour, to me.

You can't reject other peoples' nuanced arguments

I've genuinely only seen people enjoying murder, saying it's great because they don't like the murder victim.

What nuance am I missing, that's not encompassed by: "they don't like the murder victim"?

[-] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 month ago

I'm referring to people talking about the trolley problem, defense, war, etc.

When it comes to killing the CEO I'm not gonna argue it because your position is valid.

I agree it's "wrong" but I won't hide my smile, I wouldn't be sad about some other similar incidents either.

When there is no justice, there can be no peace.

[-] iii@mander.xyz 1 points 1 month ago

There's not really a question left.

I'm glad you get to feel good. Good for you.

Sad someone got to die for you to feel good. Have you tried hiking?

[-] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 month ago

Nah fewer bad people in the world is better medicine

[-] Dasus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

but if the president wears different pants than the previous president that goes to show voting can affect change

[-] Schmoo@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 month ago

I'm sure Trump's concepts of a plan will fix healthcare in this country. Yup, definitely should have just waited for daddy Trump to give the healthcare industry a spanking. He's definitely not a slimy conman who will just let the insurance industry line his pockets like every other politician.

[-] leftytighty@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 month ago

the world isn't so black and white, and this kind of attitude (preservation of the status quo, valuing order over justice) is what allows evil to persist.

Sometimes we need to get our hands dirty, and you're benefiting today from the people willing to do that in past generations.

Sometimes it's armies storming a beach, sometimes it's the people checking those in power
