Xbox Live Gold will apparently transition to Xbox Game Pass Core on Sept 1st

includes online multiplayer and various benefits
same price as XBLG
Existing XBLG subscribers will convert to Core
includes 25 Game Pass titles
GWG offers will end

You own the games? Really? Do you buy digitally? If yes, far from you own it. Do you buy physical copy? You think you own it, but then some games require a multi-GB day zero patch to start after installation. Some even require online connection and even log in.

@mtcerio @Techmaster yes when you buy a game physical or digital you only paid for a license to play it, which can be revoked at any time by the owner.
