I ask because I maintain a VS code theme based on Pop OS and I'd like to support the new cosmic theme in addition to the older ones.

I installed Cosmic on my current system following steps here.. https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-epoch?tab=readme-ov-file#installing-on-pop_os BUT, I was reading somewhere else also, and that post said to not enable the Cosmic login screen, because it was buggy. So I didn't. I CAN NOT find that post, and i can't figure out what the *(!@&^%# I did. I want to know HOW to enable the Cosmic login screen. I believe I edited some config file.. don't know what... HELP please. Thanks!

Question should be self-explanatory.

My battery is only 75% effective. I came to the shocking realization my System76 is OLD! I can't seem to find a battery for it. Would a later-model darter battery be compatible?

The System76 Lemur Pro is light, thin, repairable, and upgradeable. It’s the best Linux laptop we’ve tested.

I love my System76 Lemur Pro laptop and use it a lot. But the keyboard started dying recently. The F and R keys got really finicky, basically not registering most of the time. If I mashed them really hard sometimes they’d repeat like 15 times. It was not good. I started using an external keyboard just to get by.

From what I read online, the keyboard is not readily replaced. It’s integrated into the top case and requires the battery, speakers, and motherboard to all be swapped, with all connections/wires unhooked and then re-hooked. Well I’ve done stuff like that before so I figured I could do it. Better than getting a whole new laptop!

I struggled with some of the connectors and ended up leaving the fan connections just on and taking the fan and main board off together. I also left the CMOS battery connected. I popped it all back together and…. it worked! Now it’s a beautiful new top case, feels brand new. I’m very happy with this, and it wasn’t even that bad to swap out. According to the photo timestamps, it took me from 7:09pm to 7:46pm, so 35 minutes.

I run a lemp10. I saw a notification of a firmware update, but when I applied the update---apparently successfully---the firmware version did not change. Now I see no pending firmware update.

What happened? Is this normal? Task failed successfully?!

Latest sweet update from S76! Looking forwards to trying this out properly soon myself :)

COSMIC DE. Our next frontier! Each update brings us closer and closer to a new desktop environment for Pop!_OS. It’s now at the point where the COSMIC team is using it daily, and completed software is getting much needed quality-of-life updates.

My new Lemur Pro arrives tomorrow, and I'd like some guidance on charging via USB-C - is it recommended at all? I know it lists it supported, but i want to make sure I'm not doing anything ill-advised, and grab the right charger.

Thanks.

I've read through a few docs, including this one: https://github.com/system76/firmware-open/blob/master/FEATURES.md#disabled-management-engine

But, I've not found any definitive answer. Does anyone know if the 10th gen i7 would have the open firmware for disabled Intel ME on the Meerkat mini? Thanks

Considering buying a laptop from System76, but whilst looking at the different laptops I realised that I am going to need a keyboard layout that is ISO Nordic, which an absolute must for me. Is this possible to request while ordering of their laptops? Thanks

Now that those bunny eggs have been painted and the afikomen has been found, it’s time to upgrade Pop!_OS! Here’s what’s new in Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS...

System76 has released Linux 5.11 and Mesa 21.0 for both Pop!_OS 20.04 LTS and Pop!_OS 20.10. This incorporates support for RX 6000 series GPUs, which was the primary reason for the update.
