I have a Nextcloud v24.xx install on shared hosting, good host that would probably help, but I want to learn. I hve looked through the Nextcloud site and my OS/browsers are deemed too old. I can run MX KDE off a stick but not for long because it runs the fans hard on my old MBP (2009).

I've had an issue with the internal GUI updater getting stuck on Step 3 for a long time. There was a file to remove so I could try again, which I did back then in the v25 days, but it kept stopping at Step 3, and I've been ill, so I let it go.

Now I look and NC is on v28? And I now have a little time. I have SSH access and the cPanel terminal available, and when Softalicious did the install I chose the db name and can find that info and have PHP MyAdmin access.

But I am not certain about some things, one being that I see advice out there to update one version at a time, which seems like it'll be a long slog if it can be done at all, since I'm on 24.xx now.

Softalicious, BTW, also could not do the update back then and then at a certain point told me it was too many versions behind instead of just failing with no explication.

I'd either like to update in one swoop, or save my data/db and do a new install and import my data from a backup and point it to the db. I'm assuming there were database changes along the way and a 24.x db might not import.

Suggestions welcomed, anything I learn I'll post if helpful.

Whenever I open nautilus I have to mount the nextcloud folder first. Is there a way to auto mount the folder?

Adding it to fstab?

100% CPU load (sh.itjust.works)

Okay i have a strange problem. Im running a nextcloud instance with linuxserver.io docker. And every night at 03:00 AM i get 100% load. And it disapears when i restart the docker.

I have entered docker shell when the high loads occurs and i see that the process is php /app/www/public/cron.php that is causing the high load.

Nothing i the logs shows errors and i have checked all settings. How can i continue the search of what making the high load?

I cant trigger the high load from anything else execpt waiting until 03:00 AM.

He guys,

after upgrading to Nextcloud 27 I noticed some errors in Security & setup warnings. I fixed all of them, but don't know what to do with this one. I've read documentation, but still don't know what to do. How to fix this or should I just ignore it?

I'm running lsio docker container, Nextcloud version 27.1.4

Hi everyone.

I have recently gone on a bit of an update spree and while doing that figured out I didn't have my vhost correctly setup to use the .htaccess files with "AllowOverride All"

However, setting that option completely broke my installtion, and I figured the culprit was an .htaccess file located in /nextcloud/apps.

I have the .htaccess file in /nextcloud, and AllowOverride All set in my virtual host for apache.

I also downloaded the latest release as a zip and checked on github, but I can't find any reference to an .htaccess file in /nextcloud/apps there, so I'm wondering if this is a remnant from a previous version that I just found now due to my misconfiguration of AllowOverride.

Any hints are appreciated.

Edit for completeness: it's version 27.1.3

I'm planning to set up Nextcloud server for personal use but I never did anything similar so I have 2 questions:

  1. Is there a way to turn on server remotely? I don't want to have it turned on all the time because I don't need that and I want to reduce power usage.
  2. Can I access my Nextcloud from anywhere or do I need to be connected to the same wi-fi or something similar to that?

These are probably trivial questions but again I don't have any experience with stuff like this.

Hi, I want to upgrade my nextcloud instance from version 26.0.5 to 27.0.2. Any advice? In particular for what concerns software versions: actually I've installed php 8.1.18, postgreSQL 13.11, redis 6.0.16. Do I need to upgrade them?

Thank you!

Hi all, just checking: is there a way to manually sort files (specifically photos)? So not automatic sorting on name or date, but (drag and drop) manual sorting?

Hello, all. Does anybody have experience with the LibreCloud hosting service? It seems very attractive with reasonable pricing for a 1TB plan ($15/month) and United States servers close to my area, but I can find almost nothing about it, positive or negative online.

I really need to make sure my files are safe, and self-hosting isn't an option (at the moment) with my atrocious cable upload speed and data cap. Do any of you use it or could recommend an alternative? I am also looking into proprietary cloud storage, at least temporarily, like pcloud and icedrive.

I am interested in possibly self hosting a Nextcloud instance. Couple of questions, if I self host a lemmy or pixelfed instance can it source photos or videos from my theoretical Nextcloud instance?

Another question is can I have it only sync while on the WiFi at home instead of over cell? Any way to enable access via wire guard while out and about but then only synch when at home?

My server prompted me to update to 27.0.0 on the Stable channel, but I don't see a blog post or official release on github. Still, proceeding as an early tester.

So the title says it all but I have an annoying bug (?). If I send invites for an event to users out of nextcloud they receive the event and can respond to it. But if they select yes/no/… the status of the invite does not change. I receive a confirmation from their gmail that they accepted the invite.

I use nextcloud on unraid using docker. Mails are being send using iCloud. Nextcloud is using an external domain via Nginx proxy manager and cloudflare.

Tips, ideas where to look?

Could somebody direct me to a server that has Collabora working, and maybe 1TB-2TB of disk space? Thanks.

The only thing I found is creating a dedicated instance on a cloud server like Hetzner (expensive and I would need to maintain it).

I'm looking to convert my data from nextcloud turnkey lxc container to a standard docker docker container.

What's the best way to go about this?

Edit:

I just exported my data manually and then reimported. It was almost pain free if I hadn't tried to upgrade from 25 to 27
