We lost the war with Iran. This statement was made by the former deputy director of Israeli intelligence Mossad Ehud Lavi, the Pars agency reports, citing Israeli media. 2nd_LINK

"The war against Iran is strategically lost. Regime change has failed. The nuclear issue — their capabilities have not decreased, enriched materials have not been destroyed — even this has failed. On the front of the Strait of Hormuz, which appeared at the height of the war, we were also defeated. Israel will never recover from this situation because we have not achieved any results in Iran," the ex—intelligence officer said.

Trump’s risky gamble to stop Iran from exporting oil shows no signs of succeeding, experts say.

Murtaza Hussain May 01, 2026

The U.S. has been racing against the clock to see whether the Iranian economy can be brought to a breaking point before the rest of the world—much of which is already beginning to feel economic pain from the shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz. The administration’s claim that the blockade could destroy Iranian infrastructure, trigger immediate economic collapse, hyperinflation, or shortages, has also been echoed by the New York Times, which recently reported claims from U.S. officials stating that oil wells “cannot be turned on and off, and they would be damaged if they are forced to shut down,” and arguing that these risks would force Iran to “make a deal to avoid such long-term problems.”

But numerous experts inside and outside of Iran strongly disputed the claim that causing a production shutdown on Iranian oil wells would trigger serious harm to the country’s infrastructure, with one expert calling the claim reported in the Times “egregiously false.”

And since the only problem is Israel, then where are the public negotiations, with western concessions, is our plan to just force them into submission instead of offering a fair deal ?

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has entrusted Ali Larijani, the top national security official, to ensure the Islamic Republic endures any military attacks and targeted killings.

Feb. 22, 2026

https://archive.ph/pqYtP

“We are ready in our country,” Mr. Larijani said in an interview with Al Jazeera when he visited the Qatari capital, Doha, this month. “We are definitely more powerful than before. We have prepared in the past seven, eight months. We found our weaknesses and fixed them. We are not looking for war, and we won’t start the war. But if they force it on us, we will respond.”

Ayatollah Khamenei has instructed Mr. Larijani and a handful of other close political and military associates to ensure that the Islamic Republic survives not only American and Israeli bombs, but also any assassination attempts on its top leadership, including on Ayatollah Khamenei himself, according to the six senior officials and the Guards members.

Sources with knowledge of internal White House deliberations told Drop Site that Trump is emboldened by what he sees as a phenomenal success in his Venezuela strategy—issuing sweeping demands for capitulation under threat of removing the ruling government and then abducting President Nicolás Maduro when he refused to obey.

But, the sources said, Trump and his aides have pressed war planners for assurances that chaos produced by any U.S. military action would calm down in time for the midterm election season to kick into high gear.

Trump has suggested to aides that he would make a deal with Iran if its leaders bend to his central demands but he stands ready to unleash a massive military operation—potentially including one aimed at assassinating Iran’s leadership—if they do not. Trump has said he may consider an initial round of attacks in an effort to push Iran to submit. In that event, the massive firepower in the region would remain if he decided to move forward with a broader war. Iranian officials say they are currently working on a formal response to the U.S. position laid out in Geneva on Tuesday during indirect talks, but have cautioned Iran has its own red lines. Tehran, meanwhile, told the United Nations it would consider U.S. bases “legitimate targets” if attacked, putting U.S. servicemembers at serious risk.

Her account does not claim to be comprehensive; no single account could be. She is not part of a professional activist network, but she was visiting Iran in order to spend time with family. The interview presents a first-hand perspective of a person directly involved with the protests—from someone who is opposed to the government there, but is also opposed to the bombing of Iran and is not a supporter of the U.S. or Israel, countries that have played a role in the unrest and have made no secret of their designs toward Iran. The New York Times has reported that “a ragtag network of activists, developers and engineers pierced Iran’s digital barricades” and with the help of the National Endowment for Democracy, a CIA-adjacent American funding mechanism, managed to build a transnational network that smuggled some 50,000 Starlink devices into Iran, which is about $40,000,000 of hardware for that “ragtag” band.

The protests gripping Iran are fuelled by immense economic pressures and frustration with the government, but with Iranians having felt Israel's wrath and also seen what the US did in Venezuela, their demands are not for foreign intervention, a slate of regional experts have said.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft in Washington DC on Monday, the experts said that whilst there may be some voices that are outliers, most Iranians were looking for the international community to help lift crippling US sanctions and begin a new path forward.

In an interview with Al Jazeera on June 19, IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi said that, while the agency had warned about the level of Iran’s uranium enrichment, it had found no evidence that Iran was building a nuclear bomb. “We said very clearly in that report that preceded the dramatic events and the attack that we did not find in Iran elements that indicate there is an active and systematic plan to develop nuclear weapons,” Grossi said.

This echoed previous assessments by U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who stated in March that the intelligence community “continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon, and Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized a nuclear weapons programme, which he suspended in 2003. The IC [intelligence community] continues to monitor closely if Iran decides to reauthorise its nuclear weapons program.”

"Speaking to reporters before getting onto his helicopter to go to the Nato summit in The Hague, Trump said he was unhappy with both Israel and Iran for breaking the ceasefire agreement he brokered.

Reserving his harshest criticism for Israel, he said: "Israel, as soon as we made the deal, they came out and dropped a load of bombs the likes of which I've never seen before, the biggest load we've seen.

"I'm not happy with Israel. When I say 'OK now you have 12 hours', you don't go out in the first hour and drop everything you have on them. So I'm not happy with them. I'm not happy with Iran either.""

"In the middle of an empty street in Tehran, a young man stood playing the violin. As fear of Israeli air strikes drove people indoors at nightfall, his music carried through the quiet neighbourhoods, offering residents a moment of solace and peace.

“I just wanted to remind my fellow citizens that the lovely sound of love and music is louder than the terrifying sound of bombs and explosions,” the musician, who didn't want to share his name, told Middle East Eye.

“I’m not into politics at all, but I wanted to give love to the people around me and remind them that life is still going on.”"

"It [Israel] attacked Iranian nuclear and military facilities, and assassinated high-profile security, intelligence and military figures, as well as nuclear scientists.

Tehran, which denies it seeks a nuclear weapon, retaliated with ballistic missile strikes on Israeli towns and cities. At least 439 Iranians were killed and 28 in Israel.

While the assault left Iran undoubtedly damaged, it nonetheless provided lessons about its nuclear and military capabilities, as well as the domestic standing of the Islamic Republic itself."

"CNN reported on Tuesday that an initial assessment of the strikes by the US Defence Intelligence Agency was that the main components of Iran’s nuclear programme were intact and likely only set back by months.

This flies in the face of Trump saying that the US air strikes “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s nuclear programme. The White House trumpeted its bombing of Iran’s Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz enrichment complexes as a major military feat that surprised Iran."

"Israel sustained more damage from Iran’s missiles in 12 days than it did from two years of Hamas’s homegrown rockets, or indeed from months of war with Hezbollah.

In 12 days, Israeli crews have come to grips with the sort of damage to apartment blocks that before only Israeli planes had inflicted on Gaza and Lebanon - and it’s been something of a shock. Strategic targets have been hit, including an oil refinery and a power station. Iran has also reported strikes on Israeli military facilities, although Israel’s strict censorship regime makes these assertions difficult to verify. "

My Iranian friends told me that all communication with their families has been cut off by the government. I know of associations gathering funds for donating eSIMs in Gaza where Israel did the same. Do you know of any such possibility in Iran?

My friend has a public profile, and we are thinking of organizing a fundraiser.
