I got aware of this project when the community developed app for warmshowers got suddenly shut out of the site. People from the orbit around the app started the sleepy.bike project and it is now accepting people to sign up. The functionality is apparently still a bit bare bones, notifications are not working yet, I think also no e-mail forwarding of requests etc. But messaging on the website should work.

I have not understood how it all technically works, but I have managed to create an account. Very few people are on there still, but you are now welcome to join. Would love to see this project succeed. Come and sign up!

My dad and I have done a ~1 week long tour each year since he retired, I put this luggage together for Vermont gravel, but ended up on a much more 'touring' oriented ride, following PA Bike Route L, and getting off the highway as much as possible in favor of gravel roads and rail/canal trails.

I made the front triangle bag last minute, it ended up being a great place for my pump, kitchen stuff, and raingear.

Up front is a 15L dry bag with a tacticool 'admin pouch' which is attached via MOLLE to the voile straps, it has a map-pocket and nice organizers for typical handlebar bag stuff.

I have a very back-tire heavy setup. Basically I have my tent (without poles, my GF carries those) strapped to the handlebars and everything else in the panniers on the back rack and on the rack (it's a Vaude Karakorum Pack, to be precise). Do I have to keep anything in mind to reduce wear and tear on my back wheel or tube? I know the weight distribution isn't optimal but it's just so convenient to have only one real bag instead of a myriad of smaller ones. Also cheaper. Still, curious about the drawbacks and how to counter them. Thank you!

I highly recommend this four part documentary from Martijn Doolaard. It's maybe one of the best documentaries about bikepacking.

I still have to wait for a seat post bag, handlebar bag and two fork bags, but so far so good!

It's not fancy, but it gets me where I need to go.

In case anyone's curious, the bags are from LesenokBag, a Ukranian bag maker, and they're amazing!

Can this bikepacking community not keep out the bike tourers? I understand it’s cool to be doing it in the backcountry, but even though I’m traveling down roads, I still camp on the wild. On Reddit there was gatekeeping earring the term, if you were touring it didn’t cut it for them sometimes.
