This is DayOfDoom's dad. He told me not to do this but I'm doing it anyway while he's asleep.

I'm a proud man and a proud Buggman. My name is John Buggman. He and I come from a long line of Buggmans.

What's this I hear about our very noble surname being censored on this website? Why would this happen? My son, despite his frequent outbursts saying otherwise, is also a proud Buggman. He won't stop talking about how he's been so heavily censored and attacked on this website. He says he's been especially tormented by, I take it, some user named Maude or perhaps multiple Maudes? What's their deal? It's all he talks about and it's starting to severely disrupt our otherwise peaceful dinners.

I was considering adding this website to our parental filters but perusing it I see very little smut and lots of news content, which I approve. Bit heavy on the video game talk, maybe, but Seth has been respecting his daily 8 hour gaming limit lately so I'm not too worried.

Alright, hear me out. I've been on a diet for several years now, and I've lost over 150 lbs. Part of the key to my success is having a variety of low / zero calorie things that I drink, perhaps most importantly including one sugarless energy drink per day. What makes them work within the context of my diet is that they're very flavorful, and take a very long time to drink relative to stuff like water, tea, soda, etc., and drinking them over that long period suppresses my appetite for the duration.

But I don't want, or need the "energy." And I sure don't need the heart palpitations, either. So basically, I am looking for "energy" drinks in terms of intensity of flavor, but without all the stuff that makes them "energy" drinks.

While looking I've seen some that are caffeine free, but they're still "energy" drinks. Do you guys think being caffeine free alone is enough to lessen the strain on my body?

And before anyone mentions drinking water: I DO drink water. I drink at least two liters every day. But just sitting here chugging water all day doesn't quiet the unceasing scream in my brain that tells me to eat an entire family's worth of food in one sitting.

Seems almost inevitable at this point but with the lack of informing in and out of gaza it seems unlikely we'll ever know for sure.

A friend recently made me aware of the fact that Falun Gong-backed Epoch Times is running anti-trans ads on the videos of pro-trans YouTubers, and so I’m trying to dig in and find out more about where their money is made. Also, does anyone know of an easy way to obtain this paper?: https://www.pdcnet.org/jrv/content/jrv_2020_0008_0003_0298_0307?file_type=pdf

I can't give my state for obvious opsec reasons but I was wondering, when you renew a license through the dmv's online service, do you get a temp license in a pdf or something to print out until the card comes in the mail? It's been a while since I renewed and I totally forgot. Thanks.

I'm a baby leftist and still learning. You keep using this phrase. I'm sure I live in it but I'd like to know what Hexbears define as the imperial core.

IIRC, the account was run by an Israeli communist, and had avoided the IDF. Where are they in respect to the latest hostilities?

Hey folks, it's getting cold, worried about folks in my area.

Would y'all prefer a care package with socks, wet wipes, a lighter, some candy and clif bars, or would you prefer the equivalent in cash? I figure some things are probably hard to get to shops to purchase, but I wanted to ask folks who have been there and know what's most helpful.

If you would prefer a care package, what are some important essentials that you'd want to have in it?

I'm having problems with this.

My partner has all the right political instincts and really wants to bolster their knowledge of the systems of socialism/communism and the ideologies therein.

I was initially thinking of recommending Blackshirts and Reds by Parenti as that was an entry point for me to shed any remaining lib tendencies I had.

Would love to hear what y'all would recommend!

I'm going to try keeping this as anonymous as possible, so I won't be going into where I am, of course.

An IRL comrade told me several years ago that the only way ahead in political organizing where I am is to start something myself. I disagreed at the time and I've spent the intervening years trying to find an org that was doing something and not handicapped by a poisonous national committee. The benefit to that was that I've found some good IRL comrades from various shitty orgs that would be worth joining with in the struggle, but that first comrade was right and I hate it.

I want democratic-centralism. I want political education. I want praxis.

So, I come to you with this question: How do?

More specifically, regarding political education, does anyone have a good, well-ordered reading list? Like, from babby's first socialism to contemporary political analysis.

I'm much less worried about the praxis side, as the majority of my experience is in labor organizing and the other comrades I want to propose this idea to have experience in other community organizing.

My thought process is first frustrated, because I'm not getting the item when I thought I was. But then I can't stay mad, I remember I'm costing some company extra money with the free replacement.

I've noticed that even the average tech/sales socialist is way more insufferable than the average socialist

Curious when they replace a C or K with KKK, do they say "Kay Kay Kay" or "Ca Ca Ca". Also why do you pronounce a S as a dollar sign?

My current partner said this about me on a text chain with her friends:

"Y'all this man's body is not a wonderland, it's a weird vending machine that sells caffeinated sludge & something pretending to be a protein shake."

God I love her.

My assumption is that I found it here but I'm not sure.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I want to find it again.

Both Ukraine and Palestine are fighting against an invading force. We can unanimously agree that Palestinians have have been illegally occupied in an open air prison/concentration camp for 75 years. And we seem to agree that Palestine cannot be a perfect victim and it is reasonable that they seek support in Hamas instead of their Israeli oppressors.

Now why can't the same logic be applied to Ukraine? There is absolutely a nazi problem in Ukraine. A nazi problem that needs to be wiped out. But Russia isnt trying to denazify Ukraine, they're trying to maintain borders and resist NATO. But while doing so they are indiscriminately killing civilians and are the aggressors.

Personally, I believe in what Norman Finkelstein has to say about Hezbollah and the red army. Both are not perfect, but I don't care about their politics. I care that they are a resisting force and believe a country should have the right to self determination.

So how are these situations diametrically opposed that you seem to be hostile towards Ukraine but supportive of Palestine?

I don't mean to come off as shaming or judgemental. I genuinely would like to hear your perspective.

Edit: I appreciate all of the thoughtful and patient responses. Even though I might not respond to everything here I am reading all of it. I was operating under a lack of information, which I've never seen any Western media source report on. Ever since leaving reddit, hexbear has been a great source of alternative perspectives and context. It's opened my eyes to a lot of how I've been misled by papers that I've trusted.
