It becomes very worth it if you have a family. Everyone gets access to all services. People won't use everything, but every one will use something. Your wife and daughter might use Fitness and Music, while your son uses Arcade and Apple TV+. You might use News and a mix of others. Everyone uses iCloud back up and private relay.

What I find suspect is he didn't even use the tool himself. Someone else did and shared output with him, so its hard to know how it was used and how much time they really spent with it.
