A routine that just returns "yes" will also detect all AI. It would just have an abnormally high false positive rate.

It doesn't have to be turn-based. FFXI and FFXII are also great. I feel the bigger issue is that making a story heavy game while everyone else is also making story heavy games makes it no longer unique.

I wouldn't mind going back to ATB, but I don't think that would win back an audience except for nostalgia points.

Maybe more FF:T though? Kinda miss that.

The problem here is they need to stay where the users are. It doesn't matter if Twitter is shit, as long as that's where people are the broadcasts need to be there to reach as many people as possible. Hell, if 90% of the people are on IRC then they should also support IRC. Dumping Twitter isn't going to make it better, it would only mean people are less likely to get warnings -> more people in danger.

At least with a half broken app there's still a chance.

And that's fine. Plenty of authors are great at writing the journey and terrible at writing endings. And from what we've gotten so far at least he now knows what not to do when writing an ending.

At this rate the only party they will have left will be their own farewell party.

+1 for fairmail. Never have I seen an app so functional yet so ugly at the same time.

No, the 2037 problem is fixing the Y2k38 problem in 2037.

Before that there's no problem :)

Worked in IT, target disk mode is a life saver when you have to recover data from a laptop with a broken screen/keyboard/bad ribbon cable and don't want to take apart something held together by glue.

A more recent example:

"Nobody needs more than 4 cores for personal use!"

You can do it through democracies. Taiwan has two sets of high speed rail systems.

Are they expensive to maintain? Absolutely. In fact they bankrupted 2+ companies until the government decided to step in and foot part of the bill. But then again, if the government isn't willing to pay for basic infrastructure, what are taxes for?

(Also as a tangent, the Taiwan high speed rail bentos are to die for. I had it 5+ years back and I still remember it. Super cheap meal in a disposable bamboo lunch box. Usually there are 1-2 choices per day. I had chicken thighs, pickled veggies, steamed pumpkin, and half a marinated tea egg. The bottom half of the lunch box was filled with rice. 10/10 would eat at a busy train station during rush hour again)

AUR maintainer for a few niche packages here. It's because it lowers the barrier of entry. Remember this is all a volunteer effort.

What do I do when someone running ubuntu reports an error saying the PKGBUILD doesn't work?

What if the program fails due to a different version of the kernel? (True story, only after 2 weeks of debugging I found out that the user was running Manjaro, which used a different naming convention for the kernel)

What do I do if someone reports a missing library dependency on fedora? Should I also package that library for fedora?

If I'm packaging drivers for specific hardware. I'm not going to install a specific distro just to fix your issue (sorry!). Most of my advice is given on a best effort basis. I made these build scripts for myself since I want native installs for all my software, and thought other people may be interested in them as well. If the responsibility of maintaining them becomes too overwhelming (like with your LUR case). I'll probably host these build scripts in a private repo instead.

Funny how a game about fearing the unknown is being hated on by a group that fears the (relatively) unknown.
