During this week I got to know this quite odd brewery at my university - the picture above. It has lot of weird quirks because it is just ~150l setup with same technology as 1000l+ setup. It sometimes doesn't make much sense but you can brew pretty much anything in it.

Yeah I will probably be down there quite a lot during my studies ;-)

@ascentale @homebrewing my cider usually don't have time to age - I drink it too quickly. Maybe it will get better with age I am usually quite surprised when I find some forgotten 1+ year bottle.

What are you brewing?

Easter is in few weeks maybe you have some special beer prepared or just your normal #homebrewing experiments. Let's share what is fermenting, some good tasting #beer you made, something that didn't end up how you liked, happy little accidents that ended up well... Just everything homebrewing, #wine making, #cider , #mead ...

I used to make these posts once per month but didn't make them for about a year, let me know if I should start again with them.

So this year Christmas celebration was pleasantly interrupted by #bikepacker from Japan.

I was half watching new fairy tale from our national TV (which wasn't that good they didn't managed to make good one in some time) and got warmshowers notification.

I didn't told him much but when he just got in the middle of our family gathering he was bit surprised. I think it is the highlight of this year's Christmas for me and my family too.

@GuloGulo @homebrewing
to snad NEE!

Pivní pálenka je fakt nic moc. Myslím že jsme to udělali jen jednou když se něco fakt hodně nepovedlo a pak jsme to používali na mytí oken.

After like 3 years I was again brewing beer just for fun and not 2000l batch as my job or trying something on this small scale for my job (because I had a time and got the ingredients for free).

It is really experimental brew. I put 3,5l of grape juice (I think it is Veltlín variety) and will add some cherries there too. So let's see how it will end up.

@MuteDog sweet ones, that's just what I have. I was asking more about the usage - where to put it in the process in fermenter, to the boil (as I found someone do it with concentrate)

@AndiPopp @homebrewing I know, few months ago I was in Belgium and visited brewery that makes lambics.

Tbh I really don't like this style I was thinking about some dubbel or some different strong style.

I am thinking about brewing some Belgian #beer for Christmas and have frozen cherries and cherries in rum.

Do anyone here from the #homebrewing fedi bubble have any good recipe or suggestions how to use it?

The last 2 days in #Spain were mixed, I rode from El Rocío which has this wild west feel to it but I foolishly decided to rode through it on bike. It was bad idea all roads are this fine sand and lots of potholes, probably good for the horses but nearly unrideable on my bike.

From there I got on the coastal route, that was nice separated or with little to no car traffic. That quickly changed before Huelva where the EV route goes through oil refinery and then suddenly change to highway with pretty nasty intersection.

After Huelva the few km I had to camp was really nice on bike line along the highway.

@jeena yes, if you want to know more: https://mstdn.dk/@EvilCartyen/113198511530283716

It is much better resource than what I wrote on Lemmy year ago. He also writes about what you can add. In my case I make cider from whatever apples I can get my hands on.

I opened first two bottles of my #cider the test batches with hops and spices.

The one with hops needs another month in bottles - it smells amazing but it still has too much bitterness. I don't know why it is noticeably darker and why it makes foam like beer.

The one with spices tastes too much like Christmas (I just don't know how to describe it better). So it is good but not exactly the season for it. I can imagine it will be good with some Christmas cookies or something like that.

I like more the Christmas one (because it is ready to drink now), my boss on the other hand likes more the hopped one. (Yes I drink at work)

I am excited for the batch with oak chips and the basic cider, which I will probably taste next week.

I will probably make another 1-2 batches of #cider . I would like some other suggestions what to add.

I was thinking about some herbs and wood chips. Is there anything else I could try?

So all juiced, it could be better it has 11% sugars (2% less then last time we did it). Still better than last year when we didn't have any apples.

So it begins, this year about month earlier. Tomorrow I will get it juiced and expect ~100 l of juice. It was little bit unexpected to do it today but somehow I managed to do it, in 4 weeks I should have something finished if I won't drink it partially fermented.
