Why out of all the artifacts, only the hourglass requires money to purchase the magical sand to upgrade?

Because Time is Money, you spend more money, you get more time!

I am a big fan of Dungeon Meshi and Pixel Dungeon, and I see there is no shortage of food variety in Pixel Dungeon, you even eat monsters! (sometimes!) So I think why not? Right?
