loops.video is in development, from the same dev who did Pixelfed

This is the answer! Most people will not ever install a new operating system.

Self hosted ‘The Lounge’ is great.

If you’re working from something like my tutorial here, all the Linux instructions and commands will be the same using Brew + Terminal :)

Hello! If you’ve installed it with brew, you have faircamp working (no need for Linux). Are you familiar with Terminal? And how to use “cd” to move around? Is that what you mean by “point it to” your faircamp folder? For example, you would just type “cd /path/to/your/faircamp/folder”

It doesn’t matter where the faircamp folder is, it will build the site wherever you run the faircamp —preview command. (Sorry my phone isn’t formatting this correctly, there are two hyphens before “preview” 😆)

Matrix is good but it feels more like a WhatsApp group or something. Definitely room there to have a client that’s more fun, like Discord

Yep Ice Cubes is great, you can have loads of timelines on there if you want. Mastoot is also great, really nice to use and easy on the eye.

Yeah same, I had a terrible impression of Reddit until I actually created an account so I could stick to the “non-horrible” subreddits. But it just always felt a little… gross.

For Lemmy, I could tell blahaj.zone was gonna be cool. Been following loads of blahaj accounts already, on my Masto. My impression is we’re all interested in creating a welcoming & interesting space here 💜

I changed to Metager https://metager.org/ … it’s the only one I’ve found that still respects yer "string search"

I think Peertube does that! It’s usually pretty smooth…

Knew there had to be an evolutionary reason for hands. Thx

I’m looking into it for making music, streaming & VJ-ing. Wondering if it’s the type of distro that “just works”, or if you end up tinkering a lot? Would love to hear your experiences.

I'm just using emacs org-mode and Obsidian for task management, and keeping track of my learning new code-y things... but no backlinks or anything yet. Was trying Zettlr as well. Waiting for an excuse to get really fancy with it.
