Less than a decade ago, US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. helped win a landmark $289 million verdict against Monsanto, which was found to have distributed a weedkiller containing the carcinogenic chemical glyphosate.

I know most people think RFK Jr is acting out of love of the game, but my theory is that Trump has some lever of control over him and is actively trying to test the boundary. Renaming the Kennedy Center, reversing this ban on glyphosate, hell even that picture on the plane where they're all eating McDonald's -- it all just seems designed explicitly to attack all the little points of pride RFK had before joining the administration and humiliate him into submission.

Ultimately I don't think it matters though. Regardless of whether RFK Jr is being controlled or is acting purely on his own volition, he's enabling and contributing to the destruction of the country and that's all that really matters.

She's one of the very few people in congress who does not accept corporate or foreign donations. She's also hugely popular, especially among young people.

At the same time, Zohran is already delivering in NYC -- when 2028 comes around, he will likely be massively popular and AOC's association with him will give a ton of weight to the feasibility of a bold progressive vision to rebuild.

The corporate/ruling class is rightfully threatened by the possibility of an AOC presidential run -- whether you mean to or not, you're doing their work for them.

The ongoing campaign to paint AOC as a neoliberal centrist in progressive spaces is so tiring and predictable.

wtf!

Department belatedly released a report admitting that, for nearly 20 years of occupation, there existed, “a government pattern of sexual slavery on government compounds.” U.S.-trained and funded authorities, it noted, “continued to arrest, detain, penalize, and abuse many trafficking victims, including punishing sex trafficking victims for ‘moral crimes’ and sexually assaulting victims who attempted to report trafficking crimes to law enforcement officials.”

This meant that, in practice, the U.S. taxpayer was subsidizing the widespread rape of children

You're missing their point. Two things we know about Hasan:

  1. He's an influential and outspoken critic of human rights abuses, which has made him a target of the people/institutions responsible
  2. He might have used a shock collar to train his dog which he might have used on stream

Even if the latter is true, giving more weight to it than the former seems pretty disproportionate (imo).

As a vegan I abhor violence toward animals (and humans) and was dismayed when I saw the original clip. But after being absolutely pummelled with bs outrage "analysis" videos, to me it became clear that there was a coordinated campaign being waged to smear him, very likely from those whose abuses he criticizes.

If he uses a shock collar to train his dog, I do not like that. Ultimately, my conclusion though is that I do know that he has consistenty taken a stand against fascism, and to me it is clear which of those has more substance.

Yea, sorry that was rude. Just frustrated by how amazon contributes so significantly to so many of the US's problems, and yet so many people are still perfectly happy to continue supporting them.

It's also possible that it retrieved the data from whatever sources it has access to (ie as tool calls) and then constructed the json based on its own schema. That is, the string value may not represent how the underlying data is stored, which wouldn't be unusual/unexpected with llms.

But it could definitely also just be a hallucinations. I'm not certain, but since it looks like the schema is consistent in these screenshots, it does seems like the schema may be pre-defined. (But even if this could be verified, it wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of hallucinations since grok could be hallucinating values into a pre-defined schema.)

This isn't very surprising to me and I'm not too mad about it tbh. My impression is that Rossman is passionate about open-source and right-to-repair, and after connecting with Eron, he was offered his dream job that would allow him to get paid to work on his passion in Austin with Eron. Eron is very wealthy which provides the funding but also comes with sketchy friends. Eron exploits Rossman's authenticity and puts him in a tough spot.

On an individual level: respond to bots/trolls with the goal of providing accurate information and a perspective grounded for the benefit of uninformed lurkers who are reading but not commenting.

Don't get baited into arguments, just do your best to provide clarity so that bots have a harder time spreading misinformation.
