My bad, I meant community. You can block communities individually. For blocking instances as a user there's an open issue on Lemmy's GitHub, but I believe it's not going to be implemented anytime soon.

You may have forgot:
1a. check to see how much time you have
1b. realize it's too late not to worry about it and too early to start getting ready
1c. get anxious and don't do anything for a while, repeatedly checking the clock because you're time blind
1d. get distracted, forget everything
1e. nap
1f. wake up already late, scramble to get dressed properly, go out looking like crap and still anxious
2. Show up 1hr late

It's possible, it's one of the downsides of being federated. The instances are moderated independendently, there is no central authority that enforces law or morals. It's great to avoid things like what happened to Reddit, but stuff like that can and will show up. You can always block instances to avoid seeing them, if you want.

I haven't deleted my account yet, but I'm in no hurry to go back. I'll go back if I see some change (in any case I'll also be here, it's cozy)

The good part here is that they're losing money, but I doubt it'll be enough for anything more than a sop. Spez the asshole seems pretty firm on his decisions, and people are eventually going to come back. Like Louis Rossman said, this is just showing them is that no matter how bad they treat their users, they'll always be back in 2 days max, and that's what counts in the end

This guy is an asshole, but unfortunately he is right. A 48 hour "protest" isn't going to solve anything, either go indefinite or don't bother. If almost everyone comes back it just means they won. This could the time for change, but it probably won't be.
