Fact check: "depending on the origin of hyaluronidase, injection of hyaluronidase should be avoided because cross-reactions may occur in patients who are allergic to bovine collagen and bee stings"

Also don't forget the historic aspect -- when queerness was viewed as sexually deviant and perverted, it was the kink community that stood by us. Just because we've evolved to be socially acceptable doesn't mean we should leave everyone else behind

It's clearly sexual selection; high testosterone results in early baldness, which in turn is deemed unattractive.

Thus, in order to save western society as we know it, we need to start worshipping bald men as the virile hotties we all know they truly are.

What about anarcho communists ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘ˆ

While I agree with you that the actions of the man are horrible, I fundamentally disagree with your interpretation.

I do not think that this woman is the butt of the joke in any way; the comic is not punching at her. In fact, I'd argue if anything she is the person we are meant to identify with and cringe with. Her perspective is the one we follow throughout the comic; her slow realisation is one we the audience follow.

The butt of the joke is the man, and how he is unable to let go of his attachment to Wilson, the volleyball, after his time on the island.

I do not think it is morally objectionable to laugh at this comic, and I do not think the comic itself is morally objectionable, and further I think it completely lacks nuance to condemn art (even webcomics) just because it features characters who are morally objectionable.

tw: mild transphobia, JK Rowling

On a podcast, Rowling defined the word 'woman' as the 'producer of the large gametes' (large gametes referring to The Egg), which is obvs terfy as it's attempting to reduce the category of 'woman' to the ability to produce eggs.

'large gamete producer' has since been taken up by terfs as a transphobic dogwhistle.

I had a mild hope it'd be an ironic username, but checked their Tumblr and the first post is digging up someone's dead name, so yikes.

I'm happy to remain federated; I think the communities, mods and the instance admins (thanks!) do a good job of curating the community, and by and large hexbear users interacting with us on this instance seem to do so in good faith.

That being said, I would make the observation that, from my perspective at least, there seem to be more than a few hexbear users that are apologists for authoritarian regimes. I want to preface this by saying that I am of an anarchist bent, so am not exactly enamoured with 'Western' political systems either, but this should not preclude criticism of (bringing up the most often contested examples) the USSR or China.

That being said, discussion of these things are important and differing views should be seen, as I have often found enlightening articles or overlooked areas of history through reading these kinds of discussion.

Bottom line: I would remain federated, but ensure we maintain the character of our instance.

So block this instance? I'm not sure why you feel the need to post about it.

Also I have a bone to pick about the 'telling people how to think is wrong. We have a word for the latter and it's not pretty'. Firstly that's pretty polemic for no good reason. Assuming you're dancing round the word fascist, it seems pretty unpleasant and unnecessary to allude to the group that committed genocide of queer people and deliberately destroyed research into trans issues to set it back decades.

Now onto the substance of the claim -- that telling people how to think is fascist. This is completely absurd, the key difference being that fascists don't just 'tell people how to think'; they brutally enforce it with violence.

This post and the trans women making it are not about to use the full force of the state to prevent people thinking about transphobia. What they are doing is posting that, to take part in the community that they are investing money to host, you must unambiguously support trans rights.

The comparison you have implied is completely and utterly absurd, and the dramatic language and comparisons you have used to make it is cringe.
