Humans have an awful record of shortsightedness and unforeseen consequences. While yes, mosquitoes have the highest humam kill rate of any other thing that can kill people, it can be mitigated or eliminated with adequate sanitation and healthcare access for communities being harassed by mosquitoes.

The better solution to the ails caused by these insects is to improve drainage and sanitation infrastructure, build hospitals and clinics, and enact policy which gives access to this infrastructure to everyone without exception.

Hopefully this spectacle encourages more billionaires to get inside more fragile and poorly made tubes...

You are not personally guilty for the sins of your parents. In fact, that you recognize your privileged status and wish to fix the contradiction is commendable.

Landlording isn't a service. It is simply being the owner of something. Simply being an owner of something doesn't create value.

Also, landlordng takes homes off the market, making them unavailable for purchase thus creating false scarcity, raising the price to purchase a home, exacerbating the problem you are claiming it alleviates.

The "services" some landlords supposedly provide, such as maintenance, could be afforded by someone who owned a home. Landlords always seek to run a profit. This means they are going to charge more than their mortgage, maintenance, and taxes on the home. The monthly cost to rent is always going to be higher than the monthly cost to buy. Always. Not only will it be a higher cost, but it also builds no equity for the renter. The money you pay into a mortgage, aside from the interest, is partially an investment in yourself and your own assets. Rent, on the other hand, is basically money down the drain for the renter. No gains for the renter, only the landlord.

If you are a renter who believes landlords provide a service, you're being deceived. They are stealing from you.

I get it. I sat through the whole thing, and by time I watched it I had already started transitioning toward veganism. Dominion made it essentially impossible to go back, since now even seeing animal byproducts makes me very uncomfortable.

They sure were doing it before. Probably just advertising it more now to prep for something.

[-] bleepingblorp@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 1 year ago

They were doing it back when I was in, which was several years ago.

Yeah a lot of workers get PTSD. A lot. At least the ones who don't get off on torturing/killing animals.

If you watch (or already watched) Dominion you'll understand both parts of what I'm saying, both how people could get PTSD and how it is possible some people might enjoy cruelty.

For any comrades that watch it (or even its trailer) though, Content Warning: A FUCK TON OF ANIMAL CRUELTY AND DEATH BY THESE CORPORATIONS AND THEIR WORKERS IS DOCUMENTED IN UNCENSORED FOOTAGE. Highly recommend though.

wow... and if you watch Dominion (free documentary on YouTube) you know how dangerous those places are, and how traumatic working there would be...

Can't say I'm too surprised, but expecting things like this and actually confronting it are two different things.

The revolution shall be without mercy.

So I am a bit aware of the John Brown Gun Club and Socialist Rifle Association, but I am looking for more information.

Do any comrades here know of or are part of any gun groups for Marxists? Any information could be helpful, including about the two I mentioned. I've heard mixed reviews on both and would like it kind of straightened out. Also additional options or what have you would be nice.

I am US based.
