Well, in that instance my mom cooked that early in the morning for breakfast, but just like her, I also have the tendency to experiment with food depending on what's available. If you have tomato sauce, soy sauce, some lemons and some protein you can add vegetables to your heart's content. Also I forgot to mention that a carrot was also a part of the recipe

Man these people in the comment section are lucky to think that when you simply just ignore someone, the harassment ends.

Btw forgot to say, but nice to meet you too! Here are my stories that I send to my friend on February 17, 2025. You might be interested.

"Lost then Found"

I just edited some parts to clarify the locations.

"On February 7 I lost my water tumbler, the last time I saw it was in an outdoor study shed in school. I reported it to Lost & Found and they made an announcement in the GC on February 8 with a sample picture of it, exact brand and model and everything. But on February 12, I was in that same place really early, and not a lot of people were there. I was on a table with my classmate, and their friend came over on another table. Then I noticed that they had a water tumbler that looked like mine right in front of them on the table. I asked my classmate if it was his friend's, he sounded not sure so I asked his friend. He said that it wasn't his, and I asked him if he brought it there or it was already there. He said he didn't bring it, then he asked my classmate if that thing was already there before he got here. MY GUY YOU CAME AFTER US, AND IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU." ‍‌‎‎‎‎‌‎‎‎‎‎‌‌‌‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‌‍

"Unrecognizable Tomcat"

"There was a tomcat who my mom and neighbour is familiar with. Hell my neighbour knew him since his birth. One night he was extra cuddly so I invited him in my house to cuddle him, until my mom told me to put him outside for the night. The next day he was dead, on the side of our house. No injuries. What weirded me out is that my mother and neighbour couldn't recognize him as the same cat they knew, even when I pointed it out, only saying he looked handsome and well-cared for. Only when he didn't appear that night anymore did they realise it was him."

"Painting Magician"

This one is a core memory of my childhood. Probably single digits age.

"When I was a young kid, we had a painter over to paint our house a new color. A painter noticed I was playing with a ball, and offered to do some magic tricks, courtesy of duwendes. He was able to hide the ball so well I couldn't find it anywhere, I looked at his back, even under the couch, up and below him. But just by bringing his hand forward he will show the ball again. Then again, he could just be a good magician."

Oh wait you're gonna share it too? Here are some additional details that I wrote just some minutes after the event on a discord server lol. Also this message was dated June 24, 2025 at 09:22.

"Freaky thing that happened to me just several minutes ago. My glasses were missing from my container, and I figured it must be because I put it somewhere when I was done watching TV. I was looking EVERYWHERE in the house but couldn't find it, and I was doing this even at the cost of my planned housekeeping and preparation schedule (cuz today I have to do summer class). So eventually I just started cooking. I cooked some white beans complete with aromatics, tomato sauce and some seasoning, then I put it on a plate behind me on the table cuz I'll be cooking an egg. After I looked behind me, MY FUCKING GLASSES SUDDENLY APPEARED RIGHT NEXT TO THE PLATE! It wasn't there before that, like at all."

I also have some other stories (somehow so many of them are related to disappearing objects), will probably get back to you with them.

Well good thing we have federation because I moved over to piefed (I was on lemmy.world and not on the .ml instance too). Though the move was influenced more on the features.

"Spectacle" (char lang)
Some months ago my mother was on a work trip so I had the house to myself. One night I watched some yt videos on TV using SmartTube. Usually I would put my glasses on the chair of the sofa. The next day I was looking for my glasses but couldn't find them anywhere, and normally my vision is functional, but from where I sat in class I couldn't see the blackboard well. And that morning I had classes. Eventually after a while I gave up and thought I'd just find them eventually, so I started cooking my breakfast.

I would like to clarify that the distance between the table and my kitchen is just less than two meters. And I looked for my glasses on the table already. Okay so, I had two parts of my breakfast. Once I put my first part on the table I then turned around to cook an egg (the second part). I took the egg from the wok and when I turned to put it on the first part of my breakfast I suddenly saw my glasses just in front of the plate of my first part of the meal. It was a literal jumpscare. Idk how that was possible unless it somehow fell from the ceiling!

"Running Shadow"
This one happened years ago when I was young. I invited my friend over to draw stuff together. Before that I saw a running shadow outside of my bedroom from my window. Now I remember that it didn't disappear in just a blink, I had the chance to see it clearly. Some point later, my friend arrived, I never told her about the shadow. At some point my friend looked at the side of my house and she said she saw a running shadow that made no sound. I asked her about its height (relative to the window) and it matched what I saw.

This book by Renato Constantino aims to focus on the people's history of the Philippines and break free from the prevailing narratives at the time (some of which persist until today) and it can get surprisingly in-depth. It is also a required reading for History GE in certain universities such as UP. If you are able to get a physical copy of the book I would recommend you to get one because it's more easier to check the sources by flipping from one page to the next if you're interested.

Anyway, this book made me aware of what my education had neglected to teach me and even challenged my assumptions. That of our historical figures, our institutions, heriarchical systems and economic decisions. And most importantly, the role of the educated middle class, the primary audience of social media like Reddit and probably this one as well. I believe that anyone who is a part of this stratum in the Philippines should read this. The actions of certain people in our history showed me how our personal interests, no matter who we are, does not make us immune to bias, hypocrisy and sanctimony, clouding our ideas of what is right and wrong. It certainly is true that we must learn history so that we do not repeat the same mistakes.

Have you guys experienced these policies?

I remember the first taste of this policy when I was an elementary student in a private school. I thought it was dumb because we're filipinos and it wasn't even an international school, but since I was good at English, after some time complaining I let it go because it didn't affect me that much, and I didn't want to be seen as a bratty kid.

Now in college, we visited a museum showcasing the local Filipino culture. After exiting the museum, I glimpsed a sign that said something along the lines of "This is an English Only Zone". I felt betrayed, because the museum was benefiting from Filipino culture but at the same time they're suppressing it. Just like my previous private school, is it all just for the prestige?

And I think to my current situation. I am barely a fluent speaker in Tagalog. I often trip when it comes to uncommon words in Bisaya. And the worst part is that while filipinos are very ubiquitous around the world and on the internet, there are a dearth of resources in learning the national language at an advanced level, let alone the regional ones. I don't even know where to find Bisaya fiction in my city!

How much more until we start forgetting ourselves in our self-loathing? When we start forgetting how to convey intelligent thoughts in our language to the point we sound stupid if we don't speak in some other language?
