This would he concerning if I wasn't convince that Walz would sit him down and correct him like a disappointed father.

If anyone could make a politician seem like a child to their face it'd be him, and especially if that politician is Vance.

When you want to be like Putin so badly you adopt his leadership style:

I wonder if it's because, regardless of being rich and famous, he can't coerce a pop star like Taylor, he's not that rich or famous.

She's unattainable, and for a narcissist that's irresistible.

What resonated with me is people calling LLMs and Stable Diffusion "copyright laundering". If copyright ever swung in AI's favor it would be super easy to train an AI on stuff you want to steal, add in some generic training, and now you have a "new" piece of art.

LLMs and Stable Diffusion are just compression algorithms for abstract patterns, only one level above data.

So I disagree with non-voting and encouraging others to, so I've removed this sub from my feed a while ago (until I heard about this drama).

But I've had a debate with Links in a comment section before and it ended amicably. We reached some understanding over the issue and the feelings of hopelessness. While we didn't change each other's mind it was one of the few disagreements I had online that ended positively.

Also as a trans woman, typos happens! If someone has a track record supporting trans people some benefit of the doubt should be given first.

Ironically the business people are terrible at business. I genuinely think LLMs (despite their economic evils) are stunning pieces of technology.

But they are money sinks and the only plans for profit are subscriptions or advertisements. It's Social Media/Streaming/Tech Startups panicked hype investing all over again. Subscriptions and advertising just simply do not pay the bills for huge server and gpu farms.

But sustainability isn't what they want is it? They want the stock to go up to then cash out when it's about to fall. sigh

Yeah the author of Harry Potter! Though the antisemitic goblins and slave apologizing elves were added later by an editor.

I think her name was Joe Karen Rowboat or something?

Look at the bigger picture, the default is what everyone including the elderly, kids, anyone not tech savvy, or anyone that doesn't want to search for the "don't serve me malware" setting for their friggin email.

The company is still liable if they officially promote dangerous stuff, even if the user could technically avoid it. Take the Panera Charged Lemonade scandal for example. The user shouldn't be forced to tiptoe around the email client itself.

I feel like Markiplier keeps improving, over time his videos have cut out a lot if padding and fluff that was the standard in old school let's plays, but it's not a smash cut fest like some newer youtubers are.

He also is diversifying his mediums, like the movie that he's currently making (not a "youtuber movie", an actual movie adapted off the game Iron Lung).

The only real controversy of his that I can think of was when he stood up for PewDiePie when he said the n-word. Mainly because they were friends. With how many years he's been going I'm surprised there's not more.

I feel like the fediverse might take off, but not because of Lemmy.

I was a deep lurker on Reddit and a RIF user so when shit hit the fan I heard about Lemmy.

However I never use Twitter, but before learning about the fediverse because of Lemmy I already heard casual mention about Mastodon. I feel Mastodon will be the first to reach a really wide audience and once the public is comfortable with using federated networks then Lemmy might gain mainstream appeal.

Regardless of what happens, something has to give and I'm excited to see the old titans drop to their knees for once (and Twitter doing a faceplant).

A federated internet feels like a good balance between free speech and moderation. And decentralized non-profits feel like they'll be more stable than the venture capitalist sugar daddies Silicon Valley has relied on.
