You say that like that statement wouldn't be more appropriate for those who make the poor a boogeyman.

There's no such thing as chav sub culture. The "chav" uniform of tracksuits and caps is just the standard attire of working class British lads.

The so called "Chav" uniform - tracksuits, gold chains, caps and trainers, is literally just the standard uniform of British working class lads, so it's not even subtle..chav is a slur, not a subculture. The idea it is a subculture was a media fabrication.

Some restaurants have banned "sportswear" which also happens to specifically ban baseball caps, tracksuits, as well as certain brands of trainers. It's essentially a "working class lads are not welcome here" sign.

Britain has a huge classism problem.

It's the getup of the average white working class lad. Are you suggesting that the working class are all into drug-dealing?

Chav is a slur, not a subculture. It's derogatory shorthand for the white working class.

That word is indeed a slur, yes.

It is the typical getup among white, working-class British lads, though. Just like in an American suburb, the typical getup would probably be something like a T-shirt and a pair of shorts.

The disdain, distrust, and dehumanisation aimed at lads in tracksuits, gold, and caps - the classic white, working-class British outfit, is absurd. Restaurant bans on these clothes are just a thinly veiled way of saying “white, working-class lads are not welcome here.” People talk with such hostility you’d think their families were devoured by tracksuit wearers, yet it’s this very British working class that fundamentally built modern Britain.
